Does therion work with TeTeX 3.0?
by Wookey 28 Sep '05

28 Sep '05

Debian is about to transition to TeTeX 3.0: http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/09/msg00015.html I haven't yet done any tests, but thought I would start by asking if we expect any problems? This list currently doubles as a development and a user list. Apologies to the non-developers here - you can safely ignore this thread I think. Bugs in SVG output
by Wookey 23 Sep '05

23 Sep '05

I just tried exporting terikan.svg instead of terikan.pdf. It works pretty well and the inkscape viewer is faster than PDF viewers, although it does not do transparency. However there are some problems with the output (at least in my viewer). The ater area in the top left (pink, "Beaufort Straights") has not been clipped by the central wall, but this comes out OK on the PDF. Also the text labels have problems. Text overlaps itself and is truncated - e.g we get "Elevato" instead of "Elevator", and the two words of "Menagerie Cave" overlap. Perhaps most seriously the Legend is entirely missing. See http://wookware.org/mulu/terikan.svg It is possible that these errors are due to the viewer rather than file. I don't know. Projection Plan and Elevation
by Philip Schuchardt 23 Sep '05

I have a plan and profile view of a map and I would like them in the same pdf file. Any ideas? Is is possible to get a map with a projection of plan and a map with the projection of [elevation 0] in the same pdf? To scale and and lined up vertically. My plan map has the default projection (plan) My profile map has the projection [elevation 0] By the way, Therion is a really cool piece of software! Philip Schuchardt

Sorry for that post. I problem on my part... I had a line with the type label instead of type wall. On Thursday 22 September 2005 20:56, you wrote: > > Why does therion cut off part of my map? Why does therion cut off part of my map? I did fixed the problem by putting dummy survey station to get the rest of my map on the pdf file. There must be a better way... Philip

Legend symbols
by Jenny Black 22 Sep '05

22 Sep '05

Hello, I really like the way therion can automatically create the legend, and it plots only the symbols you have used. However, I have just noticed that if I have sometimes plotted "waterflow" (for example) as a Line symbol and sometimes as a Point symbol, there will be two boxes in the legend, both called "waterflow" but with slightly different water flow symbols in them. Perhaps, for symbols that could be drawn as a point or line, the ledge needs to only make ne entry for them? I think there might also be a similar issue if you use the point or area symbol for say sand, "sand" will appear twice in the legend, with 2 slightly differnt pictures. Thanks, Jenny

bug with joins and comments
by Wookey 26 Aug '05

26 Aug '05

Here's an interesting one. There is something about comments containing the work join that breaks actual join commands - presumably the parser gets confused: I had this in the file: join wilfords1_s4 grumble3_s1 #(grumble3 -> grumble1 join) # wilfords1_s4 grumble2_s3 line joins: join grumb2_s3_l2 wilf1_s4_l2:3 join grumb2_s3_l1 wilf1_s4_l1 With this neither of the joins 'worked' I changed it to: join wilfords1_s4 grumble3_s1 join wilfords1_s4 grumble2_s3 #line joins: # join grumb2_s3_l2 wilf1_s4_l2:3 # join grumb2_s3_l1 wilf1_s4_l1 Now the wilfords1_s4 grumble3_s1 join works, but the wilfords1_s4 grumble2_s3 join still doesn't. Then I changed it back to: join wilfords1_s4 grumble3_s1 # join wilfords1_s4 grumble2_s3 #line joins: join grumb2_s3_l2 wilf1_s4_l2:3 join grumb2_s3_l1 wilf1_s4_l1 to try and isolate the problem. This works the same as above (first join OK, second broken). This doesn't work either (I was hoping it would :-( ) join wilfords1_s4 grumble3_s1 # join wilfords1_s4 grumble2_s3 join grumb2_s3_l2 wilf1_s4_l2:3 join grumb2_s3_l1 wilf1_s4_l1 Prety wierd huh? It really does look like using the word 'join' in a comment breaks things. And what exactly is going on ( I can't quite see a pattern about it affecting the current line or the next line) If you need the whole dataset it's at http://wookware.org/mulu/benarat-therion<date>.zip and the above is in benarat/terikan/terikan.th2 Wookey -- Aleph One Ltd, Bottisham, CAMBRIDGE, CB5 9BA, UK Tel +44 (0) 1223 811679 work: http://www.aleph1.co.uk/ play: http://www.chaos.org.uk/~wookey/

Bug in overlap setting in layout
by Wookey 23 Aug '05

23 Aug '05

If you set overlap 2 cm in the atlas layout, then each 'page' in the atlas takes 2 pages, the second of which is blank, and the 'overview' thingy in the bottom right-hand corner goes slightly off the bottom of the page. Looks like the extra space needed for the larger overlap is not properly allowed for.
