"\legendbox" "\loadpicture" and absolute paths
by rowena 14 Mar '21

Hello, I am using the "\loadpicture" capability in "\legendbox" constructs to include map sections, elevations, etc. It all works nicely on my PC where I am using relative paths to the pdf files. My club has a desire to archive the map data for posterity - ie if my pc dies or I go walkabout, the map data should still be available so that others can add to the maps as they are extended. I would prefer to have the images included using relative pathnames, rather than absolute pathnames, so that future explorers can download the map data and extend it, without having to duplicate my file hierarchy. How can I include relative paths in the \loadpicture functionality? Thanks, Rowena

Import a scrap into another scrap (or th2-file)
by torstein finnesand 11 Oct '17

Hi fellows, Sometimes I realize that two scraps should have been one (for instance scrap A in A.th2 should have been a part of scrap B in B.th2), in particular when it's difficult to join them. It's easy to insert the xvi file into the scrap B file. But I have to draw it again. Is there any workaround here? Torstein Finnesand Norway

The question is, Bjørn, have you found a decent Android tablet that has a good screen for drawing on using a stencil and is also 'caveproof'? Without this, we cannot really move on from PDAs. Graham

And PocketTopo allows you to see the entire cave in context while surveying. That and its simplicity makes it efficient and effective.Topodriod looks like a very nice app, but i cannot imagine it being fast or efficient in a cave. I don't have an Android device whose screen works in the wet, so i have never contemplated using it for a real survey. Simple, without many not necessary features, and 3D export to DXF is amazing. But not Android. Topodroid is too complex and any sketch you did in a cave one has to redraw or correct in Therion. GMANE link not working
by Bruce 11 Aug '16

11 Aug '16

I notice the <http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.comp.gis.therion> GMANE searchable link at the bottom of the Therion wiki start page has not been working for a few days. It gives an error like this. dir.gmane.org's server DNS address could not be found. Has someone not paid their ISP or is there some other problem? I find it a very useful resource, so it would be nice if we could get it back Bruce

Consecutive spaces in path crash pdf map-image
by Bruce 04 Aug '16

My trusty team of testers has discovered what seems to be a bug. Using 5.3.16 and 5.3.16 Vladimir's beta If a Therion project folder, that is to contain an output file, has a name that contains two consecutive spaces and map-image is used to insert one pdf (in this case an extended elevation) into another, then we always get this error. Same if any folder in that folder further up the path has two consecutive spaces. writing ./Outputs/MapGrikePlan.pdf ... ####################### metapost log file ######################## This is MetaPost, version 1.209 (kpathsea version 5.1.0) (mem=mpost 2010.01.31) 1 AUG 2016 19:32 <snipped> 122 output files written: data.1 .. data.4015 #################### end of metapost log file #################### converting scraps ... done making map ... done ######################## pdftex log file ######################### This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.10 (Web2C 2009) (format=pdftex 2010.1.2) 1 AUG 2016 19:32 entering extended mode <snipped> !pdfTeX error: pdftex.exe (file C:/Users/<snipped>/ caving surveys/CAVING GRIKE 016 w10/././Outputs/MapGrikeExtendedElev.pdf): cannot find image file ==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced! ##################### end of pdftex log file ##################### C:\Program Files\Therion\therion.exe: error -- pdftex exit code -- 1 writing xtherion file ... done The statement that appears to have triggered this is; map-image 0 0 nw "./Outputs/MapGrikeExtendedElev.pdf" Notice that the ./ in the statement is changed to ././ in the processing log, and the double space seems to have been stripped out of the echoed name in caps. Was discovered when someone accidentally added two consecutive spaces to a folder name. Bruce =
