"\legendbox" "\loadpicture" and absolute paths
by rowena 14 Mar '21

Hello, I am using the "\loadpicture" capability in "\legendbox" constructs to include map sections, elevations, etc. It all works nicely on my PC where I am using relative paths to the pdf files. My club has a desire to archive the map data for posterity - ie if my pc dies or I go walkabout, the map data should still be available so that others can add to the maps as they are extended. I would prefer to have the images included using relative pathnames, rather than absolute pathnames, so that future explorers can download the map data and extend it, without having to duplicate my file hierarchy. How can I include relative paths in the \loadpicture functionality? Thanks, Rowena

Import a scrap into another scrap (or th2-file)
by torstein finnesand 11 Oct '17

Hi fellows, Sometimes I realize that two scraps should have been one (for instance scrap A in A.th2 should have been a part of scrap B in B.th2), in particular when it's difficult to join them. It's easy to insert the xvi file into the scrap B file. But I have to draw it again. Is there any workaround here? Torstein Finnesand Norway

Therion on Mac El Capitan
by Philippe Vernant 08 Jun '16

Hi guys, Does anyone runs therion under Mac OSX El Capitan. I can run xtherion, but it does not want to open the files, there is no way to get them clickable. I’ve tried the homebrew version and also compiled it myself but the results are the same. Any idea ? Cheers, Phil

scrap-drawn maps to small by factor 2
by Christian Rößler (Roessler) 01 Jun '16

01 Jun '16

Hallo everybody, I noticed a strange problem drawing a quick survey of a little adit today. This being a little adit I immediately noticed that the scale bar is off by a factor 2, as 20 real meters (in the adit) gave 10 meters in the scale bar. Then I fell back to Therion defaults (no values of mine, no input'ed metapost files etc.), but could not find anything unusual. I noticed then I had the same problem in the survey before, so I wonder. I forced the polygon draw printed besides the scraps-drawn map, then I saw the polygon draw is correct but the acrap-drawn outlines (via th2) are not. So I think I have done some mistake drawing the outlines (curve points followed by 'convert to curve'), but I cannot find anything regarding some scaling I have inadvertly done. As I assume it has something to do with scraps, here the first scrap line from th2: scrap scrap1 -scale [-128.0 -147.685 954.77 -147.685 0.0 0.0 27.502357999999997 0.0 m] Well, can anyone give me a hint? I will gladly give more information, if I just know which:). By the way: I confess I have not read the attachment policy of the list. I risk a little attachment anyway; on may see the scaling mishap in the resulting pdf. Best regards, Christian file.th: -------------------------------------------------------- survey adenauerrank -title "Stollen am Adenauerrank" input stollen_klein_intervall_01.th [some more inputs] equate 0@Stollen_klein_02 25@Stollen_klein_01 [some more equates] input stollen_klein.th2 join scrap2 scrap1 join scrap3 scrap1 map polygon_only.map -projection plan scrap1 scrap2 scrap3 endmap endsurvey map total-map polygon_only.map@stollen_klein # stollen_klein endmap thconfig: ------------------------------------------------------------ source stollen_klein.th select total-map select polygon_only.map@stollen_klein export map -projection plan -o stollen_klein.xvi export map -projection plan -layout-color map-fg 90 -output Stollen_klein.pdf -fmt pdf

Re: [Therion] Issue with magnetic declination calculation

Assuming you have a coordinate system set, it does sound like a bug. Bruce Sent from my Samsung device, hence the typo's -------- Original message -------- From: McLendonJP(a)aol.com Date: 20/05/2016 05:42 (GMT+12:00) To: therion(a)speleo.sk Subject: [Therion] Issue with magnetic declination calculation I'm not sure if it is a bug or not, but I noticed that if I have one or more undated surveys I get a warning saying "Unable to compute magnetic declination for undated surveys." However if all of the surveys are undated I no longer get this warning and the output is uncorrected for declination. This is bad IMO because if you forgot to include the date in your survey files you would get an uncorrected output without realizing it. JP

Therion compiling error (Loch, lxGUI)
by Christian Rößler (Roessler) 14 May '16

14 May '16

Good evening, I am trying to compile Therion on an openSuse 13.2 64bit, and had no success so far. After some research (including the mailing list, of course) I noticed it seems to be hanging on Loch compiling, as you maybe would have guessed:). I used the patch of detrito (29.12.2015 10:56, many thanks for that, by the way!) and set C_INCLUDE_PATH=/usr/include/vtk-6.1, and also CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH=/usr/include/vtk-6.1 (a link from /usr/include/vtk --> vtk-6.1 would have also sufficed, perhaps, after I saw I"/usr/include/vtk/" in the compiling messages. But now it hangs at: c++ -c -Wall -D_GNU_SOURCE -DLOCH -DLXLINUX -I/usr/lib64/wx/include/gtk2- unicode-3.0 -I/usr/include/wx-3.0 -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -DwxDEBUG_LEVEL=0 -DWXUSINGDLL -D__WXGTK__ -pthread -Wno-deprecated -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I"/usr/include/vtk/" -O2 -o lxGUI.o lxGUI.cxx lxGUI.cxx: In member function ‘int lxFrame::GetFileType(wxString)’: lxGUI.cxx:517:73: error: invalid cast from type ‘wxString’ to type ‘const wxChar* {aka const wchar_t*}’ #define matchtype(w,t) if (fName.EndsWith((const wxChar *)wxString(_T(w)))) return t; ^ lxGUI.cxx:518:3: note: in expansion of macro ‘matchtype’ matchtype(".lox",1); ^ lxGUI.cxx:517:73: error: invalid cast from type ‘wxString’ to type ‘const wxChar* {aka const wchar_t*}’ #define matchtype(w,t) if (fName.EndsWith((const wxChar *)wxString(_T(w)))) return t; ^ lxGUI.cxx:519:3: note: in expansion of macro ‘matchtype’ matchtype(".LOX",1); ^ lxGUI.cxx:517:73: error: invalid cast from type ‘wxString’ to type ‘const wxChar* {aka const wchar_t*}’ #define matchtype(w,t) if (fName.EndsWith((const wxChar *)wxString(_T(w)))) return t; ^ lxGUI.cxx:520:3: note: in expansion of macro ‘matchtype’ matchtype(".plt",2); ^ lxGUI.cxx:517:73: error: invalid cast from type ‘wxString’ to type ‘const wxChar* {aka const wchar_t*}’ #define matchtype(w,t) if (fName.EndsWith((const wxChar *)wxString(_T(w)))) return t; ^ lxGUI.cxx:521:3: note: in expansion of macro ‘matchtype’ matchtype(".PLT",2); ^ lxGUI.cxx:517:73: error: invalid cast from type ‘wxString’ to type ‘const wxChar* {aka const wchar_t*}’ #define matchtype(w,t) if (fName.EndsWith((const wxChar *)wxString(_T(w)))) return t; ^ lxGUI.cxx:522:3: note: in expansion of macro ‘matchtype’ matchtype(".3d",3); ^ lxGUI.cxx:517:73: error: invalid cast from type ‘wxString’ to type ‘const wxChar* {aka const wchar_t*}’ #define matchtype(w,t) if (fName.EndsWith((const wxChar *)wxString(_T(w)))) return t; ^ lxGUI.cxx:523:3: note: in expansion of macro ‘matchtype’ matchtype(".3D",3); ^ Makefile:129: recipe for target 'lxGUI.o' failed make[1]: *** [lxGUI.o] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/chr/downloads/frisch/therion/loch' Makefile:182: recipe for target 'loch/loch' failed make: *** [loch/loch] Error 2 …and I do not know how to get over this error.
