Therion's Loch features (incognito) on NZ TV
by Bruce 19 Oct '15

19 Oct '15

Loch model of 39 km cave features in this TV news clip at 3:47 (Me carrying two packs on the opening still, and stuck at 2:00) http://www.3news.co.nz/Deepest-cave-discovered-in-our-backyard/tabid/817/art icleID/330973/Default.aspx Centreline data has been processed for the last few(?) decades with a home-made unix application that uses proprietary routines, so will only live while Jonathan is with his current employer. As you might have guessed, an 'export to Therion' routine is being worked on. Bruce

Therion hanging after compile
by Jenny Black 13 Jan '15

13 Jan '15

Hi, When I compile therion, it appears to compile fine (assuming I haven't made a mistake!), and the green button on the right changes to green, and says "OK", but then it will hang. It is still running, and using lots of CPU, but I cant do anything with it without killing it. This happens either if I compile by hitting F9, or pressing the "compile" button. The same thing happens if I make a mistake and it doesn't compile, but gives me a red "Error" button. When I restart therion, and load back in my files everything works as expected... until I compile it again. I am running therion from debian (unstable) package 5.3.14-1, but I think this also happened in the previous version. Thanks, Jenny ___ Re-sending this message a week later as it didn't appear to reach the list (though i got no bounce message), apologies if you get it twice.

Compiling Therion projects from Notepad++
by Footleg 08 Jan '15

I find having multiple thconfig files open so I can compile different parts of my large cave system project very useful. So I was investgating how to run Therion from Notepad++ (my preferred text editor). This is how I got it working: I wrote a 2 line batch file containing these commands: cd %1 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Therion\therion.exe" %2 Saved to somewhere on disk, and then call it from Notepad++ using the Run command, as follows: On the Run menu in Notepad++, Select the 'Run' item, and enter the command as follows: "C:\Personal\Caving\Therion\compileTherion.bat" "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)" "$(FILE_NAME)" (But using the path to where you saved your batch file). Save the command (I called it 'Compile Therion' and gave it the shortcut CTRL+T). Now with any thconfig file open in a tab in Notepad++, I can compile that project by pressing CTRL+T, or by selecting 'Compile Therion' from the Run menu. You can create multiple thconfig files in the same folder on Windows, by giving them any filename you want with the extension .thc or give them no extension at all. That way all the files will be listed in the 'Open File' dialog from the compile tab in xTherion. Next I'll see if I can get my batch file to open the output PDF automatically in Foxit Reader :) But that will be less general because I need to pick a PDF filename which can vary between my thconfig files. point passage-height as cavedepth!?
by Torsten Schnitter 04 Nov '14

04 Nov '14

Hi all I'm using passage-height:negative points as points of waterdepth in a map of a cave. How can I use the most negative number in code tex-map ... endcode section? Is it possible at all? I would like to print the maximum waterdepth into the legend of a map. But I don't want to use any kind of an override. I would like to have some automatism instead. The part "\the\cavedepth" is not working as there are parts in the cave that are some meters above the waterline. Therefore I get "wrong" numbers for the waterdepth (e.g. if the cave is going from -5m up to +5m I do get 10m as cavedepth). If there are other possiblities to get waterdepth in some kind of automatic (without using an override like \cavedepth{5} ) please let me know. Thanks for your help, Torsten

Hi, i need a detailed dxf map export from Therion. Map export to dxf with all symbols included is not implemented yet in therion. What is the best way to convert a svg export or a pdf plan to get a dxf file for an AutoCAD import? Practiced someone? //dp

Therion protractor
by vladimirg＠mail.bg 20 Oct '14

20 Oct '14

Hello again I wonder if I can make some modifications to the protractor http://therion.speleo.sk/downloads/protractor.pdf and how to do them. Can you tell me what program you used to draw the vector image? Is it something automated or you drew everything manually? The protractor is very useful, but here are the things I would change for my needs: - Make it smaller. E.g. now the line is from -15 to +15 (on the 1:200 scale). Sometimes I would rather use a smaller tool, with the line from -10 to +10 for example. - Maybe make a version with a line that is not scaled. E.g. with real centimeter scale and maybe a size of -7 to +7cm. Don't know if I explained it well enough :) Thanks Vladimir ------------------------------------- Уча.се - Вдъхнови ме! PDA
by Markus Boldt 15 Oct '14

Hi all, slowly the time goes to end, there we can buy cheap "old" PDA with Winmobile. Pockettopo works only on Win platform and small cheap devices with Windows as OS are seldom. And our devices in use are growing older. What do you all use? What alternatives are possible. I know about some so called APPS for Android, but do they work? I hope you have the same opinion - that this is the right platform. Greetings Markus

Re: [Therion] Sumatra PDF

Paul, Not seen this on the wiki but that is an awesome tip. Save a lot of thrashing around with acrobat. Henry -----Original Message----- From: therion-bounces(a)speleo.sk [mailto:therion-bounces@speleo.sk] On Behalf Of Footleg Sent: 23 September 2014 17:09 To: List for Therion users Subject: Re: [Therion] metapost error on Windows7 .... For those who run Therion on Windows and have not already seen the PDF viewer tip on the wiki, I use Sumatra PDF reader which is the only reader I have found on Windows which does not lock the PDF file when it is open in the reader, and that renders the PDF correctly as well. Using Sumatra I can keep the PDF window open and each time I recompile my project the PDF display refreshes automatically which is really handy. Footleg ....
