Compiling Therion projects from Notepad++
by Footleg 08 Jan '15

I find having multiple thconfig files open so I can compile different parts of my large cave system project very useful. So I was investgating how to run Therion from Notepad++ (my preferred text editor). This is how I got it working: I wrote a 2 line batch file containing these commands: cd %1 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Therion\therion.exe" %2 Saved to somewhere on disk, and then call it from Notepad++ using the Run command, as follows: On the Run menu in Notepad++, Select the 'Run' item, and enter the command as follows: "C:\Personal\Caving\Therion\compileTherion.bat" "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)" "$(FILE_NAME)" (But using the path to where you saved your batch file). Save the command (I called it 'Compile Therion' and gave it the shortcut CTRL+T). Now with any thconfig file open in a tab in Notepad++, I can compile that project by pressing CTRL+T, or by selecting 'Compile Therion' from the Run menu. You can create multiple thconfig files in the same folder on Windows, by giving them any filename you want with the extension .thc or give them no extension at all. That way all the files will be listed in the 'Open File' dialog from the compile tab in xTherion. Next I'll see if I can get my batch file to open the output PDF automatically in Foxit Reader :) But that will be less general because I need to pick a PDF filename which can vary between my thconfig files. Hello everybody, I have just uploaded version 5.3.11. Here is the list of changes: therion: * added -survey option for map for setting survey associated with map. For example all surveying statistics from this survey will be used, when this map is selected for output. * added sketch-colors <number-of-colors> option to thconfig file, to reduce size of sketch bitmap images in maps * hide symbol from legend, if it has explicitly empty translation * survey-level works for point station-name labels, if station name is automatically determined (no -text is specified) * symbol-show|hide group text for point label, remark, date and line label * grid-angle <value> <units> - can be used in centerline to specify magnetic grid angle (declination against grid north). * -cs output specification works for export cave-list (including lat-long) * dates are shown using OS locale settings in map export * layout statistics explo/topo-length on/hide/off -- if it is off, team members are sorted alphabetically * KML export format supported for cave-list and continuation-list * bugs fixed: - PLT export in output coordinate system - context point air-draught not working - instrument position in centerline does not work - debug scrap-names crashes if empty scraps - counter not working in centerline data diving - revise not working outside of survey context - wrong length/depth and other statistics calculation for map output - sketch bitmaps inserted multiple times in PDF files xtherion: * bugs fixed: - new file in xtherion works, even if file is already open Merry Christmas :) S.

Error 768
by Andrew Atkinson 06 Sep '13

06 Sep '13

Hello Debian wheezy. Therion 5.3.9 and 5.3.10 First some history. I was using 5.3.9, but last weekend I was running a course in Wales so needed the OSGB:SN which is added to 5.3.10. So to achieve this built 5.3.10 from source as 5.3.10 is not in wheezy due to the freeze. So when producing a pdf I get the Error 768, log attached, everything else I do seems to work as normal Wookey was there to help, so also tried installing 5.3.10 from .deb and then 5.3.9 from the .deb, both with the same error. Now in the error there is the bit that says ! Unable to make mpx file. l.2 btex \mainfont 0 etex The two files given above are one of your source files and an auxiliary file I need to read to find out what your btex..etex blocks mean. If you don't know why I had trouble, try running it manually through MPtoTeX, TeX, and DVItoMP played around with this, but really do not know what I am doing, but it might help me trace the problem. 5.3.10 worked on Wookeys Wheezy machine, so the w/e training could continue, at least. This was generated when running the thconfig file in http://www.cave-registry.org.uk/svn/CheddarCatchment/Reservoir/ Thanks Andrew

Auriga exports data for Therion now
by Martin Sluka 28 Feb '13

28 Feb '13

This third 2012 release implements the direct export to the memory card of survey shots and station coordinates in a text file (CSV with tabs) or various cave survey formats (Compass, GH Topo/Toporobot, Therion, Visual Topo and Walls) and the direct import or caves in Compass, GH Topo/Toporobot and Visual Topo formats, features asked for by several users who would like a text file of their raw data or who cannot run the Auriga conduit (Windows problems, no PDA, run under Android). Sketch-wise, traced lines can now have types (ex. dashes) and fills (ex. hatches), even though these attributes are not yet rendered in SVG and DXF. This version 2.05 migrates cave PDBs to format 61 and network PDBs to format 8. It is advised to backup survey data before installing this new version. A new conduit (version 0.37) matches this migration and is released simultaneously. Thanks for reporting any bug, no matter how minor; don't put the blame on yourself if a software error occurs. Ideas and comments are welcome too! New features * migration of cave PDBs to format 61 and network PDBs to format 8 to support centimetric altitudes and passage width direction for each individual survey shot * a new Export item in Cave menu allows exporting survey shots and station coordinates as a tab-delimited CSV (text) file or in Compass, Survex, Therion, GH Topo/Toporobot, VisualTopo and Walls formats * a new Import item in the Cave menu of the Main form allows importing cave files in Compass, GH Topo/Toporobot and VisualTopo formats * Export element of Cave menu renamed "Save As" to avoid confusion with Export element in Cave and Map menus * sketch lines and curves now support patterns and fills (although DXF and SVG exports don't render them yet) * even with GH Topo/Toporobot as a software target for the cave, series beginnings can now hold a geographic position * map view appended to survey shot layer name in DXF * Survey Shot form now allows toggling the direction of passage widths by holding down the stylus on one of the station selector arrows for LRUDs * survey stations and shots dated in KML export to allow viewing cave progress in Google Earth (if the PDA time was properly set) * logs that could be exported to Memo (statistics, loop itinerary, loop analysis and survey shot errors) can now be saved as text files on the memory card * spaces replaced by underscores (_) in name of all exported files * when editing a note or a file name with the Auriga Keypad, holding down a letter button inserts the opposite case, or pops up a list of accented versions of that letter * pasting a geographic position in Survey Shot fields (using Edit/Paste menu item) now includes altitude * better handling of altitude received from connected GPS * Keypad icon added in Measures form on devices with virtual Graffiti area when Palm OS 1-2-3 icon is not visible * the clipping mask in Map now accepts an absolute XYZ position for its center * azimuth and slope fields in Survey Shot form displayed with at least one decimal to ease detection of input errors * dragging the stylus from Graffiti area to middle of screen now toggles between Top and Developed profile views in Sketching tool * wrong input highlighted in Auriga Keypad (along with beep) * with caves where the target software is GH Topo or Toporobot, an alert is displayed when creating a new survey shot produces non sequential stations (incompatible with Toporobot) Bug fixes * editing a hi-res sketch curve on a low-res map could shift the curve or display garbage on screen * sketched curves could end up very jaggy if traced while the coordinates of the cave origin were very large numbers (like UTM coordinates) * the Auriga Keypad could not be opened from the Measures form (again) * the column before last in the List form could not be resized if the list was scrolled to the right * the SVG export would display a North arrow for profile views * using dates with "AM/PM" could cause odd crashes in List form * inputting the magnetic declination in d°m's" or d°m.m' format in Session form did not work well * the Clipping Mask form could crash when displaying a geographic position for the center point * better handling of d°m's" characters by the Auriga Keypad * a slope of -0.01 produced an incomplete survey shot * in case of data corruption in splay measures, erroneous types are shown as ? * better alert when survey shot data is about to be overwritten by new data received from the DistoX * DistoX acquisition did not automatically restart after hitting the New button in Survey Shot form while data remained unsaved * on some devices, exporting the Map to the memory card could fail if the target file already existed * better handling of Topofil input in Survey Shot form * some station separators such as _ could not be input into fields * survey shots count in sessions could be off by 1 * various minor interface fixes http://www.speleo.qc.ca/Auriga Luc Le Blanc ********************** Hola, Esta tercera versión del 2012 añade la exportación directa en la tarjeta de memoria de las visuales y las coordenadas de las estaciones en un fichero texto (CSV tabulado) o en varios formatos topo (Compass, GH Topo/Toporobot, Therion, Visual Topo y Walls) y la importación directa de cavidades en formatos Compass, GH Topo/Toporobot y Visual Topo, posibilidades pedidas por varios usuarios que quieren tener una copia texto de sus datos brutos o que no pueden ejecutar el conducto de Auriga (problemas con Windows, sin PDA, ejecución bajo Android). Re: [Therion] Patch to disable threshold system

what about replacing the NS tests with <= instead of < and using vthreshold 90? it's what i used to do before the distox epoch. marco p.s. another option is to change the check on the vthreshold input value. ------------------------------ On Sun, Jan 27, 2013 4:41 AM PST cawa sorix wrote: >Hi all, > >I had an issue with the threshold system, I have only survey with LRUD >without any switch to NS system. > >At the beginning, I used 89.9 deg in place of 90 deg as workaround >(tks Bruce), it works but it is not the best solution. > >So, I wrote a patch to disable the threshold system, I use it for 2 >months without any issue. >To disable threshold just apply the patch and use : >vthreshold -1 deg > >I push the patch on the savannah page (It seems savannah therion >project is dead ??) : >http://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?7908 > >Free fell to test it :o) >Rgds >C.S. >_______________________________________________ >Therion mailing list >Therion(a)speleo.sk >http://mailman.speleo.sk/mailman/listinfo/therion

Patch to disable threshold system
by cawa sorix 27 Jan '13

27 Jan '13

Hi all, I had an issue with the threshold system, I have only survey with LRUD without any switch to NS system. At the beginning, I used 89.9 deg in place of 90 deg as workaround (tks Bruce), it works but it is not the best solution. So, I wrote a patch to disable the threshold system, I use it for 2 months without any issue. To disable threshold just apply the patch and use : vthreshold -1 deg I push the patch on the savannah page (It seems savannah therion project is dead ??) : http://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?7908 Free fell to test it :o) Rgds C.S.

Incorrect position of a scrap in extended projection
by Marco Menchise 22 Jan '13

22 Jan '13

Hello, I have a strange problem while creating .xvi file to use as a background for a .th2 file. Here's the problem: I have a .png image (image.png) and I want to create a scrap (contained in the drawing_scrap.th2 file) with the image. I set the image as the background of the scrap and I put on it 2 stations points to let Therion properly scale and rotate the image. The scrap is included in a map, which also contains the centerline. Everything is exported in the bg.xvi file which will be, in turn, included as background image of another .th2 file. This way I create a "canvas" for drawing cave extended projection. I cannot figure out why Therion does not put the image in the correct position respect to the centerline (see file sezione.th2 after running Therion). The same approach works perfectly for scraps in the plan projection. I attach the relevant files. Am I missing something? Is there a better way to do that? Marco
