"\legendbox" "\loadpicture" and absolute paths
by rowena 14 Mar '21

Hello, I am using the "\loadpicture" capability in "\legendbox" constructs to include map sections, elevations, etc. It all works nicely on my PC where I am using relative paths to the pdf files. My club has a desire to archive the map data for posterity - ie if my pc dies or I go walkabout, the map data should still be available so that others can add to the maps as they are extended. I would prefer to have the images included using relative pathnames, rather than absolute pathnames, so that future explorers can download the map data and extend it, without having to duplicate my file hierarchy. How can I include relative paths in the \loadpicture functionality? Thanks, Rowena

Import a scrap into another scrap (or th2-file)
by torstein finnesand 11 Oct '17

Hi fellows, Sometimes I realize that two scraps should have been one (for instance scrap A in A.th2 should have been a part of scrap B in B.th2), in particular when it's difficult to join them. It's easy to insert the xvi file into the scrap B file. But I have to draw it again. Is there any workaround here? Torstein Finnesand Norway

Question/Problem with customizing text labels
by Torsten Schnitter 21 May '17

21 May '17

Hi all I have a question concerning customizing text labels. Drawing a map with scale 1:250 is ok. Just some points a very small on the map. Therefore I would like to resize these points and make them bigger. For example: "point x y passage-height -value [- 10 m]" generates the wanted symbol, a number with a frame around. But it's to small (attached picture passage-height-1.jpg). I add the option "-scale xl". Now it's a little bit bigger but still to small (attached picture passage-height-2.jpg). Finally I use within the layout command: code metapost fonts_setup(6,8,10,14,36); endcode Now the number is looking good in size but the frame around is not correct anymore (attached picture passage-height-3.jpg). Is there a solution for this problem? Or is there any other option to resize single points or lines (like "point passage-heigt" or "line label" ...)? I'm looking forward for any help. Thanks, Torsten

Re: [Therion] Symbol for fixed ladder

You have to draw rectangle or borders of such scale in orientation plan. Start with short side! Simple line works only for section! m.s. The difference to "line:*-ladder" is, that steps are not ladders ;) this has influences on the legend, for example, as well as that with "line:steps" it is not correctly tagged in the data (for example if someone would want to list all scraps containing ladders by greping through the dataset searching for "line:fixed-ladder" lines). There is already the correct symbol defined in the source, however currently it is only a red line and i wanted to implement that as i have a need for it :) Please see https://github.com/therion/therion/pull/36#issuecomment-275244962 for an rendered example that shows what i mean graphically. Wiki search finds not much
by Bruce Mutton 26 Jan '17

I noticed just now that the search at the top of the Therion wiki page does not return many results. https://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php For example, searching for 'history' (without quotes) returns no results, and yet on the wiki start page there is a link "History of Therion" And searching for 'survex' finds two results, on the tips page, but does not find the three instances of "survex" on the start page. I'm sure there must be many more references to survex. I am using Chrome on Windows 10 Bruce

wall altitude
by Pavel Herich 25 Jan '17

Hello, I cannot find a right syntax to handle with point of wall line, which is set as altitude . . I´d like to use symbol-hide or symbol-color option. Anyone has an idea? Or just would be enough to have possibility to disable it. Pavel

Re: [Therion] Symbol for fixed ladder

What is the difference from standard definition? That standard definition was created to draw steps in caves for tourists where such steps are in different shapes and with irregular width. Try to modify its source code. m. On Jan 25, 2017, at 11:48 AM, Benedikt Hallinger via Therion <therion(a)speleo.sk> wrote: Hello again, my idea somewhat worked... see attached picture. The ladder segments are overlapping, this is still hacky. However it gives me the desired result and also works with curved lines. An optimisation cold be to draw the outer sides just as a single line following the Path slope, however i have (yet) no idea how to code this in metapost. What do you think of the results? current code is as following: --------------------- def l_fixedladder_SKBB (expr P) = pair Pp; pair Pd; pair Pv; T:=identity; cas := 0; dlzka := arclength P; mojkrok:=adjust_step(dlzka, 0.6u); pickup PenC; forever: t := arctime (cas + mojkrok/2) of P; Pp := (point t of P); Pd := unitvector(thdir(P,t)); Pv := Pd rotated 90; thdraw (Pp + 0.5u * Pv + 0.5u * Pd) -- % left side (Pp + 0.5u * Pv - 0.5u * Pd); thdraw (Pp - 0.5u * Pv + 0.5u * Pd) -- % right side (Pp - 0.5u * Pv - 0.5u * Pd); thdraw (Pp - 0.5u * Pv) -- % rung (Pp + 0.5u * Pv); cas := cas + mojkrok; exitif cas > dlzka - (2*mojkrok/3); % for rounding errors endfor; enddef; let l_fixedladder_AUT = l_fixedladder_SKBB ; % code in AUT übernehmen initsymbol("l_fixedladder_AUT"); % Symbol bereitstellen --------------------- Am 2017-01-25 10:58, schrieb Martin Sluka via Therion: 2. the width is too much for my taste and the relation to the height of the rung-spacing. Entrance for cave list
by Bruce Mutton 10 Jan '17

10 Jan '17

Looking at this whole thread to date... I use same version of therion and windows as Andrew, plus Vladimir's beta as well. I have many projects that have multiple entrances defined, as well and main entrances, and in a hierarchical structure. Never any problems encountered over many years, once I understood the, main entrance – minor entrance distinction. Andrew, it is not just that you are using a different computer or editor, and the ‘survey -entrance’ is turning into ‘survey –entrance’ (ie short dash to long dash)? Or some other unexpected thing like that? A sample main entrance definition, a bit complicated, but it works for simple ones as well; survey a -title "Survey A Upper levels to Smaugs Hall towards Connection Pitch Middle Earth Cave" \ -entrance a1 At a higher level index file I name the main cave appropriately, ie survey GLMESM_system -title "Greenlink, Middle Earth,<br>Swiss Maid Cave System" The export statement I use is; export cave-list \ -surveys on \ -location off \ -output ./Output/GLMESM_SystemCaves.html And it produces output like the attached image, which has a 4 level deep hierarchy, main caves entrances, minor entrances and unexplored entrances all included… Bruce -------- Original message -------- From: Andrew Atkinson via Therion <therion(a)speleo.sk <mailto:therion@speleo.sk> > Date: 10/01/17 00:54 (GMT+12:00) To: List for Therion users <therion(a)speleo.sk <mailto:therion@speleo.sk> > Cc: Andrew Atkinson <andrew(a)wotcc.org.uk <mailto:andrew@wotcc.org.uk> > Subject: [Therion] Entrance for cave list Page 17 of the Therion hook states that station <station name> Under the context survey should be used as the entrance identifier for a cave to be used in cave-list export. However, this gives an error unknown command -- entrance Now I can sort of get round it using Station 0 "" entrance in the centerline, but this does not define a cave so the list is a bit weird. Am I missing something? V 5.3.16 on windows 10 Andrew
