Re: [Therion] Paperless Cave Survey with DistoX, PocketTopo and Therion

Bruce Thanks for your explanations. At Sun, 31 Jan 2010 14:24:11 +1300, Bruce Mutton wrote: > It is documented, but on searching just now I discovered it is quite hard to > find. I don't think we can do much userul with these files, because they are already processed. > Attached are some notes I made to myself on how to use the gadgets and > process the data in a consistent way. If I understand that correctly, PocketTopo is still completely closed and the file format not documented. Also from reading your comments, the PDA software seems to be quite inflexible (first splay shots, then next target). Since I am also considering going that route, these seem to be severe limitations. Working together with people using PocketTopo, it is quite inconvenint not to have true Therion *.th files with the full set of measurements, but just processed data. It would be great to be able to write a *.top conversion utility, but for that the file format needs to known. Best, Martin

Packaging therion 5.3 doe Debian/ubuntu
by Wookey 01 Jun '10

OK. I'm updating the Debian (anfd thus ubuntu) Therion package to the currently released 5.3. I've decided that including a copy of the wiki docs is probably unecessary from now on, but can put them back in if enough people find it useful (expedition caving with limited net access seems to be the main plausible reason). I'm getting a build problem in loch: c++ -o -D_GNU_SOURCE -DLOCH -DLXLINUX -I/usr/lib/wx/include/gtk2-unicode-release-2.6 -I/usr/include/wx-2.6 -DGTK_NO_CHECK_CASTS -D__WXGTK__ -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGE_FILES -DNO_GCC_PRAGMA -Wno-deprecated -fno-strict-aliasing -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/vtk-5.4 -O2 -o lxAboutDlg.o lxAboutDlg.cxx lxAboutDlg.cxx: In constructor ‘lxAboutDlg::lxAboutDlg(wxWindow*)’: lxAboutDlg.cxx:80: error: ‘LTHVERSION’ was not declared in this scope The code says: wxString lxVer; lxVer = _T("Version: "); lxVer += _T(THVERSION); So can someone explain where the 'LTHVERSION' being complained about comes from? The 'THVERSION' in the code _is_ declared. Is this something to do with the _T function/macro? Wookey -- Principal hats: iEndian - Balloonboard - Toby Churchill - Emdebian http://wookware.org/

VTK export from Loch
by Thierry Gonon 01 Jun '10

01 Jun '10

Hi all, I'm actually working on Egyptian data and I have the following problem : In order to make a detailed analysis, I'm using Paraview. So I export my loch file (from Loch) to VTK file format. It opens well in Paraview, but it's quite simplified... Is there a way to make a DETAILED export that can be read in Paraview ? I tried to change the extension of the loch file, but without success... Any ideas ? Is there a way to access to some settings for this kind of export in Loch ??? Thanks ! Loch export problem
by Wolfgang Zillig 28 May '10

28 May '10

Hi, I was playing a little bit with the export of the model into the vtk Format (Loch->export...) and I found a small problem. In case of using a coordinate system the numbers get so big, that the format in the vtk text file cuts of some decimal places. ie.: 4.50121e+006 5.2852e+006 1693.74 This can be avoided by using a local CS, then the coordinates in the file look like: -20.6362 25.4544 -11.1454 - Would it be possible to change the format string for the export? Many thanks Wolfgang

Therion projects page reorganised
by Bruce 07 May '10

07 May '10

I have reorganised the Therion projects page, split it into three; Europe, Asia Pacific and Americas. I couldn't bring myself to add to the old cluttered one (it is still there if you don't like what I've done, just not referenced for now) See what you think http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php?id=start Bruce

5.3.2 has indeed fixed the Loch 'empty scrap causes hang' bug, at least for me anyway. Thanks Bruce
