Position of map on the paper in export
by Torsten Schnitter 29 Apr '12

Hi folks Is there any possibility to position the map on a different point on the output paper? Or can you resize the output in a way that not so many white spaces around the map is print? I'll try to describe my problem: I'm using: export map -fmt pdf -proj plan ... -layout ... In the layout: size 22.2 18 cm page-grid on I get a paper where a lot of white space is around the map. If I switch on the page-grid I can see the map printed on 24 pages (3 rows and 8 pages each). But if the map would be a bit more in the lower left corner it only would be 2 rows and 7 pages, so in total just 14 pages. Thanks for your help. Torsten

Website download info

Someone talked to me last night who spent all weekend trying to build therion and dependencies from source on their ubuntu machine (and eventually buggered it all up) when they should just have done 'apt-get install therion' and it would have been working in under a minute. They asked that it be made clearer on the website that this is what they should have done. I just had a look and it's not hopelessly unclear, but it could be improved a lot for the inexperienced. Ubuntu isn't mentioned at all for example, so adding this page: http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=therion would be helpful, along with a sentence or two saying 'don't try to build from source if you have these distros, just install the 'therion-viewer' 'therion-doc' and 'therion' packages' with your package manager. It would also be worth pointing out that the slackware packages are v0.3.9 so very out of date. Also I'm not sure if this was actually the problem, but I guess a new user would assume they wanted the 'stable version' and there is no Linux link for that so they might start with the source and enter a world of pain. Somehow re-arranging the page to show that the version (Debian/Ubuntu) users are expected to use is the one on the 'Debian' and 'Ubuntu' links. And 5.3.9 could probably be declared stable about now too I suspect. Wookey -- Principal hats: Linaro, Emdebian, Wookware, Balloonboard, ARM http://wookware.org/

Adding a new language to therion
by Bruce 22 Apr '12

22 Apr '12

I’m working on putting together a language translation for Te Reo Maori mi: for output files (but not for XTherion). I’m too lazy/busy to figure out how to compile therion from the source files, so would rather just send a text file to Stacho/Martin to include in the next snapshot (unless someone can show me that compiling from source on windows is easy). How would you prefer I provide the translation? I assume I take the file therion5.3.9source\therion\thlang\texts.txt and with a plain text editor, edit it either like this… therion: title explo (plural) mi: Kaihōpara or like this… therion: title explo (plural) bg: Изследване cz: Objevili de: Entdeckung el: Εξερευνητές en: Explored by es: Exploración fr: Explorateurs it: Esplorazione mi: Kaihōpara pt: Exploradas por ru: Исследование sk: Objavili sq: hulumtuar nga Also, If there turns out to be a need for different dialects, is it OK to make up arbitrary suffixes as I don’t seem to be able to find any standard ones defined? ie mi_NT: or mi_AB: for example Thanks Bruce

How to disable splay shots on KML ?
by Bruce 17 Apr '12

17 Apr '12

Bertrand This is a relatively new feature I think. The syntax you experimented with in your earlier post seems reasonable. http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.gis.therion/2912/match=splay At least no errors are reported. However I just experimented with both .lox and .kml outputs. It seems that splays are generated regardless of whether splay-shots are enabled or disabled for both of these formats. I think this feature needs some more development work :) Bruce

How to disable splay shots on KML ?
by Bertrand HAUSER 10 Apr '12

Hello, I'm searching to disable splay shots on KML export. I haven't found the correct option... Is it possible ? For exemple, "export model -format kml -o ../kml-3souches.kml -disable all" doesn't avoid the splay shots to be included. Thanks, Bertrand

How to sort Topoteam alphabetic
by Torsten Schnitter 04 Apr '12

04 Apr '12

Hi List I'm new to the list. My name is Torsten Schnitter and I'm from Germany. Now my first question on the list: Is there any possibility to sort the "Topoteam" in alphabetic order instead of sorting by the length of surveyed passages? I don't want to override the variable Topoteam with a static text within the tex-code-passage in the layout options. Thanks for your help Torsten

therion wiki media manager

I have been trying to attach txt files to therion wiki pages with http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/lib/exe/mediamanager.php but I am getting "Upload denied. This file extension is forbidden!" Either I have forgotten how to use it or there are now more restrictions on allowable file extensions than there used to be. Has there been a change? Bruce
