Whilst on the subject of PDF readers - I would encourage anybody who notices a public institution with 'get Adobe Acrobat' icons on their pages to point out to them that they shouldn't do that because it's illegal state promotion of a specific company, and to use pdfreader.org links instead: http://pdfreaders.org/graphics.en.html PDF readers have not been specific to Adobe to more than a decade, but it's still standard practice to suggest that they provide the only option. TexWorks is way better than Adobe products, it doesn't lock,  but  I have not been able to get it to show embedded pdfs in a pdf, eg where I have separate pdfs of plan, elevation, cross sections and I need to include them in a final map. If you have been able to get TexWorks to do this I would love to know how you got these to display.
