I am sorry, but again something is wrong with our mailing list :( You may use instead address therion(a)speleo.cz. Our original address is only an alias, which is does not work now (no idea why). S.

(old plans -> no newly measured stations) I assume, you have all your centerline in the therion and there are some scraps, that are shown in the map. And you would like to display those scraps with entire centerline also. Correct? It is a little bit tricky now, but it is be possible. We would like to simplify it later, because this is quite common problem. So you need to do following: 1. Create a map, that contain all surveys you have. Example survey entire-area survey cave1 ... your cave1 data... endsurvey survey cave2 ... your cave2 data... endsurvey map centerline-map cave1 cave2 map@cave1 map@cave2 endmap endsurvey 2. Now your thconfig can look like this: select centerline-map@entire-area export map and it should work. But... a. You can not define map outside the survey - so if you have too many surveys in "entire-area" survey, it is a pain to write them down. We would like to change this, but it needs a lot of work. b. You need to have a map structure - if you do not have it (and you have only scraps), you will need to put all the scraps to the maps (again a lot of work). ... so therion needs to be changed for this. Tomorrow, I will think about it. If you (or others) have some idea, what would be the best, please let us know. S.

Scaling issues with .3d files

I am trying to import a survex .3d file into therion. Currently, I am just trying to get all survey point into a pdf file. Anyway, I get a weird error about scaling. Hello there, this is my first mailing so let me introduce shortly: I am Stefan, caver from the cavers club "Hoehlenbaeren", Graz, Austria, We are now digitalizing old plans, is there any way to generally show all stations? (old plans -> no newly measured stations) Bye Steff

Hello Julian, it seems that I don't understand what you want. Do you want to show the cave model under fixed viewpoint (animated gif, mpeg...) or shall the user be abel to turn and rotate the model like he wants? Do you also need to include a digital elevation model and surface texture? Is there an easy way to add survey station labels to all the stations without going through all the scraps and adding survey name points? Philip Schuchardt

zoomify
by Julian Todd 06 Apr '06

06 Apr '06

I just tried to get zoomify to work on my webpage for a cave drawing. It only works for jpegs, not pngs. Is that right? Meanwhile, I have some technology for generating 3D renderings on a webserver and showing it through a normal browser without a plug-in. If anyone has the time and inclination to generalize it into a zoomable and rotatable cave viewer, let me know. http://www.freesteel.co.uk/cgi-bin/adaptiverough.py Julian T. http://www.goatchurch.org.uk/tunnelx/index.html

Why don't you use VRML? Dear all, I have just signed into the list. I am a caver in Greece with SELAS caving club and I have so far been using Vtopo for managing our survey data. I have ongoing surveys of both horizontal and vertical systems which I am working on. I am interested in seeing Therion (the site is very impressive), but at the moment I cannot get the download to work. Is this a temporary thing - and is there some way around it? I am getting an error which reads: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'mysql' (4) in /DISK3/WWW/speleo.sk/therion/download.php on line 8 Cheers, Stelios Stelios Zacharias SELAS Caving Club Pasionos 44-46 Athens - 116 31 Greece
