Therion date data delimiter
by bruce＠tomo.co.nz 13 Nov '25

13 Nov '25

Good morning I've just inherited some Therion survey data that includes dates defined: date 1985 2 16 (as opposed to date 1985.2.16) A cursory look suggests it is working, in that no errors or warnings are reported, and Aven seems to be interpreting the dates of the surveys exported from Therion. The Therion Book suggests that . is the only valid delimiter in this position - no mention of using a space. Is there any problem with using a space as the date delimiter? Regards Bruce

Hi, Just released Mapiah version 0.2.21. # Changelog ## 0.2.21 - 2025-11-06 - Life isn't only programming * New features: * Setting canvas scale to 100% for new files. * Fixed bugs: * New files don´t update internal status on element add/edit/remove: caused all kinds of strange problems on new file editing. * On line creation, smooth option was set to Bèzier line segments but control points were adjusted only after line creation completion. * Infrastructure maintenance: * Added tests: * asserting the fitter first command is always a moveTo before any curveTo, ensuring regressions don’t return; * editing a new line in a new file. * flutter pub upgrade --major-versions: * upgraded to petite_parser 7.0.1. Desktop versions available at https://github.com/rsevero/mapiah/releases/tag/v0.2.21 We version available at https://mapiah.org/webapp. Rodrigo

macOS installation
by Anže Abram 05 Nov '25

Greetings. I've been trying to reinstall Therion on a new M-series macbook on the newest OS (Tahoe) but have run into several 'dead ends'. (1) First I tried the homebrew method, but I ran into the same issue as several others. The whole homebrew route seems to be broken currently. https://github.com/ladislavb/homebrew-therion/issues/15 (2) I tried to compile it from source, but it gets stuck while trying to compile Loch with the following error: In file included from lxSetup.cxx:39: *./lxData.h:35:10: **fatal error: **'vtkPolyData.h' file not found* 35 | #include <vtkPolyData.h> | * ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* 1 error generated. make[1]: *** [lxSetup.o] Error 1 make: *** [loch/loch] Error 2 Does anyone know of a solution, how to tackle any of these problems by chance? kml color
by Philippe Vernant 25 Oct '25

25 Oct '25

Hi guys, I can’t find a way to change the light greyish color of the kml export except by going into the kml file and change it after it has been created. Is there a way to specify the color when creating the kml ? Thanks, Phil

New Mapiah release v0.2.19 - The polish refactoring - Part 1
by Rodrigo Severo 14 Oct '25

14 Oct '25

Hi, With some delay, here is a new Mapiah release: v0.2.19 - The polish refactoring - Part 1. Now the releases will have names also. Because I believe it might will interesting to register something less technical about the releases. Another change is that from now on the changelogs will be available at the release page. In this case https://github.com/rsevero/mapiah/releases/tag/v0.2.19 There are no new features in this release, just a ton of new tests and of bug fixes. That's what will probably happen also on the next release. Until I finish the "the polish refactoring", which, by the way, is just a refactoring that I decided to do while in Poland and that was the starter to all these new tests and subsequent bug fixes I will refrain on implementing new features. Web release available, as usual, at https://mapiah.org/webapp. Please report, Rodrigo

metapost map title line spacing
by bruce＠tomo.co.nz 10 Oct '25

10 Oct '25

> size:90>Creux ...<size:45> Entrée ? I have had this problem with point label, and discovered that the line spacing resulting from is set by the -scale parameter, and not any formatting defined within the string. Probably -scale wont work for a map title. Try using <thsp> (thin space) instead of . If it works it is easiest. Some more information on <https://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/drawingchecklist#points> drawingchecklist [Therion wiki] - points Another way is to use these inside a code tex block. Perhaps has the same effect as -scale, but for various elements of the default header. #Legend Text size. Uncomment to customise default header text sizes \legendtextsize={\size[12]} % legend text default 12 \legendtextsectionsize ={\size[14]} % subheading default 14 \legendtextheadersize={\size[26]} % heading text default 26 You could make the heading text default size smaller, thereby reducing the size of the linefeed due to , and use <size:45> to make the lettering larger or smaller. Hi community 2 questions : - Is it possible to modifiy in metapost the line which is dessined into 2 *points* map-connection ?: [image: 1.png] - Is it possible to modify the line height of a Tag in draw ? for my convenient i use this code : map MP_entree -title "<size:90>Creux ...* *<size:45>Entrée" -projection plan The result [image: 2.png] But there is too much space for the TAG, a solution for decrease space for the tag? Thanks Yann
