Issue with using both LRUD polygons and scrap morphing to XVI output
by Andrew McLeod 14 Jan '26

14 Jan '26

Hi all, Complicated subject line, but I'm trying to be too clever and it's _almost_ working but not quite... All files for this test case are here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LUy_q9PMTLYjgSbxqE_3XtzHIpPUojhJ?us… Short version: trying to generate LRUD polygons and scaled sketches to one XVI file doesn't work properly as seen in wrong_positioning_in_xvi.th2. Long version: I have a set of (unscaled) sketches. I also have LRUD data. I have scanned the sketches. I don't want to draw directly on the sketches in xtherion as the passage widths will be wrong. I have discovered the functionality to output LRUD polygons as an XVI output which would probably be sufficient, but I was hoping to get the LRUD polygon output and the morphed sketches to both appear in the XVI so that I can do the drawing of walls in xtherion onto that XVI image. I know about the 'extra' point type, but I haven't used it in these examples for simplicity. *Input files:* 1-9p.png - the scan of the sketch Shredder.th - the th file containing the centerline and LRUDs Shredder_sketches-1-9p.th2 - a th2 file plotting stations onto the 1-9p.png image Shredder.thconfig - a thconfig file that outputs a number of things (using scale 1:50 because image quality in the morphed sketch is much, much better): *Outputs:* Produced with 'sketches on': shredder_sketch_plan.xvi shredder_sketch_plan.pdf shredder_sketch_plan.th2 shredder_sketch_plan.svg Produced without 'sketches on': shredder_lrud-plan.xvi Now, the shredder_lrud-plan.xvi file works fine, but obviously doesn't include the sketches. The shredder_sketch_plan.th2 is a bit useless; the sketch doesn't match up to the stations and no LRUD polygons are drawn, but I don't really care about that. Now the shredder_sketch_plan.pdf and shredder_sketch_plan.svg *actually work* - the LRUD polygons are drawn over the correctly morphed sketch and everything lines up. Unfortunately the PDF output is very pale with yellow-tinted polygons which are a bit tricky to see and obviously going from PDF back to an image to draw over in xtherion is a faff although very doable (assuming xtherion doesn't accept PDF as an image format). The SVG image is darker, but the yellow boxes are not transparent and so obscure the sketch. Neither have a centerline showing stations, so not useful to draw on anyway. The XVI output is much, much better to look at for drawing on - the sketch appears in detail, and the shaded but transparent blue polygons appear with a clear centreline. The only issue is that the sketch and the LRUD polygons/centerlines are misaligned and misscaled, as can be seen in the file wrong_positioning_in_xvi.th2. I presume this is _supposed_ to work, since things are correctly aligned in the SVG and PDF outputs? Andrew

MacOS install issues: version conflict for package "Tk": have 9.0.3, need 8.1.1
by Rodrigo Severo 14 Jan '26

14 Jan '26

Hi, I am trying to help a friend install Therion in a Mac. After following the instructions available at https://github.com/ladislavb/homebrew-therion, when trying to run xtherion as instructed we are getting the following error: % xtherion Error in startup script: version conflict for package "Tk": have 9.0.3, need 8.1.1 while executing "package require Tk 8.1.1" ("package ifneeded BWidget 1.9.1" script) invoked from within "package require BWidget" (file "/opt/homebrew/bin/xtherion" line 12915) I have already applied the TK version and BWidget fixes mentioned at https://github.com/ladislavb/homebrew-therion but the issue remains. Any ideas? Regards, Rodrigo

Mapiah release 0.2.30 - The Serra Grande release
by Rodrigo Severo 05 Jan '26

05 Jan '26

Hi, Here is the first mapiah release of 2026, the Serra Grande release. It is available at https://github.com/rsevero/mapiah/releases/tag/v0.2.30 for desktop versions and at https://mapiah.org/webapp for the web version. This is probably the last release with a web version as further development of the web version will result in a crimpled version that won't be able to run Therion as xTherion does. # Changelog ## 0.2.30 - 2026-01-05 - The [Serra Grande](https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serra_Grande_(Uru%C3%A7uca)) release * New features: * Center on selected elements on zoom in, zoom out and zoom one to one. * Point height value presumed plus/minus edit support. * Fixed bugs: * failure parsing demo file with "Plus number must be positive" parse error. * parsing/writing '+?' and '-?' values failure for point height -value options. * Infrastructure maintenance: * Creation of portuguese version of install page. Happy new year for all, Rodrigo

by Rodrigo Severo 19 Dec '25

19 Dec '25

Hi, A few annoying issues demanded an extra Mapiah release this week: 0.2.28. Available at https://github.com/rsevero/mapiah/releases/tag/v0.2.28 and https://mapiah.org/webapp. # Changelog ## 0.2.28 - 2025-12-19 - The Kichute and Conga release * New features: * Inverted zoom shortcuts 3 and 4 (show scrap and show file respectively) to match user expectations. * Fixed bugs: * After moving a lot (more than 1.000) of elements at once, finishing the move (by clicking in empty space) takes forever to complete. * Not showing files with raster images on web version. * Unfound XVI or raster images includes point 0,0 in bounding box calculation. * nextUp() of 2.0 was wrong causing bounding box calculation errors. * Infrastructure maintenance: * Centralizing controller update after element edit. Mapiah release 0.2.26
by Rodrigo Severo 11 Dec '25

11 Dec '25

Hi, There is a new Mapiah release: 0.2.26. This one was used to treat several sketches I produced in my last expedition: lots of bugs found and fixed. I would say Mapiah is actually usefull now. # Changelog ## 0.2.26 - 2025-12-11 - The São Paulo release * New features: * Snap to "points", "line points" and "XVI shots" on as default. * Snap should snap to own object points and line points. * Non selected lines not showing direction line ticks. * Support reading files with ID and NAME values with invalid chars like spaces. The invalid chars are converted to underline. * Clarification of situations were Mapiah does not preserve the original file format included in help page. * When there is some snap option enabled, the "snap" button should be visually different. * ID written as the first PLA option on file. * Saving the file closes auto dismissable overlay windows. * Keyboard shorcut to toogle smooth between "on/unset". * Fixed bugs: * Lines with duplicated subsequent line points would block the drawing of further elements. * On 'single line edit' mode: * further editing a line after removing its first line segment would throw; * clicking on empty space to dismiss a 'multiple elements selected' dialog box because the user clicked on an area throws; * after simplifying a line, it's not possible to select the line by clicking over the new path, only on the old one. * Line options included in [LINE DATA] area would not be preserved in save. * When setting an option, its overlay window is not closing. * On 'Ctrl+A', status bar remains 'empty selection'. * Infrastructure maintenance: * Speeding up file opening with faster _findLineBreak() implementation. * flutter upgrade 3.38.4. * Improved 'single line edit' mode processing of clicks outside selected line by changing to 'non empty selected' mode and letting it deal with the clicks after that. * Major refactoring of line and line segment edit/add/remove changes propagation to all controllers. * Add tests to check IDs and references with invalid chars like spaces are properly read and written. * Seting 'empty selection' mode after undo/redo of commands. Desktop files available at https://github.com/rsevero/mapiah/releases/tag/v0.2.26 and web version available at https://mapiag.org/webapp. Regards, Rodrigo

Mapiah release 0.2.24 - The Peruaçu data processing release
by Rodrigo Severo 04 Dec '25

04 Dec '25

Hi, Here is a new Mapiah release: 0.2.24. This release has tons of bug fixes that were completely preventing Mapiah use. After trying to use it to edit some surveys from a recent trip to Peruaçu I fixed the most problematic ones. These are the good news. The bad news is that apparently nobody is using Mapiah. Lets hope that changes in the future. Here is the changelog for this release: # Changelog ## 0.2.24 - 2025-12-04 - The Peruaçu data processing release * New features: * When a single element is selected, show its properties in the status bar. * Simplification calculated values should use "current decimals". * When a line is deleted, if it's the last line of an area, the area should also be deleted. * When deleting the second to last line segment of a line, the whole line should be deleted. * When the last area border THID of an area is deleted, the area itself is deleted. * On 'single line edit' mode: * when a endpoint is selected, clicking on a control point and dragging should work. * On single element selected status bar, include the name of the unknown PLA type when the element type is unknown. * Fixed bugs: * Lines and points with unknown types would throw when being drawn. * Walkway line type not recognized. * Floor-step (and all hyphenated) line types not recognized. * 'UI: simplify line through Ctrl+L' test fails with widget width overflow. * When simplifying a line, line segment options are being lost. * Line segment options being lost when saving preserving original lines. * When simplifying a line being node edited, the visual editing points are not immediatly updated. * On certain occasions, when simplifying straight lines to Bézier, there were Ss created on the resulting lines. * Line types "Floor Step" and "floor-step" being presented. * On 'simplify line forcing to Bézier' the undo description says a generic 'substitute line segments'. * On 'single line edit' mode: * if the direction of the line is inverted, the screen does not show it; * if the user clicks on another element, the 'Multiple elements clicked' dialog box is presented instead of just selecting the new element; * when end points are deleted, they remain visually shown as part of the line; * when dragging several end points, the clicked at button down end point isn't positioned exactly at the end position of the mouse; * after deleting line points, the shape of the line would be different at the 'single line edit' view and the normal view; * after deleting several line points, the line is not click-selectable at its new line segments. * Moving lines moving only the selection handles but not the line itself. * Infrastructure maintenance: * Creating TH2FileEditElementEditController._lineSegmentsWithOptionsToPreserveSimplification set to keep track of line segments that have options to preserve during simplification. * MPEditElementAux.separateLineSegmentsPerType() moved to TH2FileEditElementEditController.groupLineSegmentsForSimplification(). * THHasOptionsMixin constructors now receive optionsMap and attrOptionsMap parameters to initialize the element with existing options maps. * Identifying methods and classes actually used in line simplification with a 'MPSimplification' prefix in their names. * Moved fromExisting constructors from individual MPCommand classes to MPCommandFactory: * add: * area; * areaBorderTHID; * element; * empty line; * line; * line segment; * point; * scrap; * XTherionImageInsertConfig; * remove: * area; * element; * line; * point; * scrap; * XTherionImageInsertConfig. * Removed: * MPEmptyLinesAfterMixin; * MPScrapChildrenMixin. The desktop version s are available at https://github.com/rsevero/mapiah/releases/tag/v0.2.24 and the web version is available at https://mapiah.org/webapp. Regards, Rodrigo
