compiling therion under Ubuntu AMD64
by Wolfgang Zillig 21 Apr '07

Hi, is there somewhere a list with all the libraries that are needed to compile therion under linux? Or a kind of manual? I just tried "make" but I'm getting errors, so I suppose that I miss some libraries. Greetings Wolfgang

Loch Study - I need loch models.
by Philip Schuchardt 12 Apr '07

12 Apr '07

I'm doing a study on immersive vs non-immersive environments here at Virginia Tech. I need one or two more loch models for the study. I would prefer the model were 1.5 km or longer. If I use your model, I will mention your name in the research paper that I'm writting. Also, if you ever near Virginia Tech, I will be more then happy to show your model in our immersive VR environment (http://www.cave.vt.edu/) Please send me the model using the latest developer-snapshot. The latest developer-snapshot has portability fixes over amd64 and x86. Do not send me loch files that are compiled under a powerpc. I haven't fixed the endian problem yet. Thanks. Philip Schuchardt

unselect in thconfig
by Stefan Oswald 07 Apr '07

07 Apr '07

Hi together, We have a problem exporting multiple .pdf files from different maps of one cave. It should work like this in thconfig: source zusammenbau select map1@zusammenbau export map -o m1.pdf unselect m1@zusammenbau select map2@zusammenbau export map -o m2.pdf unselect m2@zusammenbau With only the map1@zusammenbau ->m1.pdf is generated correctly; as soon as we add the second select-export-unselect in both .pdf files both maps are drawn.

Hello all. just doing some tests exporting svg and xhtml from therion, thinking about a final art in Inkscape or Xara. When I imported the svg, the cave was nice, but there is no legend. in the xhtml there is a legend, but I can't import this file into inkscape. how can I get a legend with svg files? thanks -- +-----------------------------------------------------------+ Carlos Henrique Grohmann - Guano Geologist M.Sc - Doctorate Student at IGc-USP - Brazil Linux User #89721 - carlos dot grohmann at gmail dot com +-----------------------------------------------------------+ _________________ "Good morning, doctors. Tex memory exceeded
by Wookey 20 Mar '07

20 Mar '07

I just added 20 cross sections and now my map fails to process with: converting scraps ... done making map ... done This is pdfeTeX, Version 3.141592-1.21a-2.2 (Web2C 7.5.4) entering extended mode (./data.tex (./th_enc.tex) (./th_texts.tex) (./th_resources.tex) (./th_fontdef.tex{/var/lib/texmf/fonts/map/pdftex/updmap/pdftex.map}) (./th_formdef.tex Runaway text? ! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [main memory size=1000000]. l.47627 \PL{ 249.81 181.74 250.44 181.80 250.46 182.14 c}% If you really absolutely need more capacity, you can ask a wizard to enlarge me. Here is how much of TeX's memory you used: 292 strings out of 97341 2961 string characters out of 1211748 1000001 words of memory out of 1000000 Do I really need to change this (how?) or is it probably something else that has gone wrong? That 'runaway text?' looks suggestive. What I really need to know is how to debug it. I ran therion -d so now I have a /tmp/thTMPDIR full of mysterious stuff. Attached is data.tex from there, which seems likely to be relevant. Is that enough to determine what broke? The current full dataset is in svn at wookware.org, which MartinS now has access to. And whilst I'm here: I would also note that adding scraps in a 900-line file is almost unbearably slow on a 900Mhz machine. It feels like something in the code does a linear search so it gets slower and slower to add each line/item. ctrl-r produces about a 15-second wait. I supppose I should just have put all the x-sects in another file. cave title in 0.5?
by Carlos \"Guâno\" Grohmann 13 Mar '07

13 Mar '07

I was testing the packages of the 0.5 version. In the final pdf, I can't get the right cave name. Even if I set it like survey cave -title "Gruta da Lapinha - R*SP-" in my cave.th file (which is the source in thconfig) all I get is the name in my .svx file (like, if my survex file has "*begin topoX", I get "topoX" as the tilte). The cryptic message below means that therion 0.5 is now available in Debian experimental, for i386 architecture. Others will become available. Creating a catalog of Therion symbols
by Mike Lake 11 Mar '07

11 Mar '07

Hi all I am trying to work out the best way to produce a catalog of all the supported Therion symbols. I'd like to do this directly from the Metapost source directory 'therion/mpost' so that it can be created automatically and therefore kept up to date. (maybe via the Makefile in that directory) What would be nice would be to produce catalogs of UIS, SKBB, ASF and US separately as well. I think a catalog of the symbols would be an excellent appendix to the Therion Book. So far I have done few symbols by copying and pasting bits of the Therion macros, thPoint, thArea etc files into a new mpost file. But this just duplicates what is in the source files. My idea was to have a metapost file that inputs the therion macros i.e. inputs therion.mp and then for each definition use appropriate parameters such as scale, rotation, position etc. File: therion/mpost/test.mp Scale:=1.0 input therion.mp % Testing UIS symbols % p_stalactite_UIS(expr pos, theta,sc,al); beginfig(1000); p_stalactite_UIS( (1.0,4.0), 0, 1, (0,0) ); endfig; However when I run this (mpost test.mp) I get many errors still. mpost$ mpost test.mp This is MetaPost, Version 0.641 (Web2C 7.5.4) (test.mp (therion.mp >> 0 ! Improper `:=' will be changed to `='. l.41 tracingstats:= 1; ? r OK, entering nonstopmode... ! Inconsistent equation (off by 1). <to be read again> ; l.41 tracingstats:=1; (thPoint.mp) (thLine.mp) (thArea.mp [4001] [4002] [4003] [4004] [4005] [4006] [4007]) (thText.mp) (thSpecial.mp) (thTrans.mp) ) [1000]) ! Emergency stop. <*> test.mp 8 output files written: test.1000 .. test.4007 mpost$ Some of these output files are actually the EPSF-3.0 postscrip files and view fine in GhostView! I need some help with a minimal example of a file that I can process (with mpost or latex) which includes a few symbols but generated just from the code in therion/mpost. What might be the best way to do this that is useful to all of us? Mike -- Mike Lake Caver, Linux enthusiast and interested in anything technical.
