therion and the OSGeo Foundation
by Thierry Gonon 30 Oct '06

30 Oct '06

Hi everybody, I'm working frequently with FOSS for geoinformatics, so open source GIS (GRASS and GQis for those who know) and also with therion as I'm a caver !! I don't know if you know the OSGEO Foundation (http://www.osgeo.org) It has been created last year, and groups currently 8 projects (in which are GDAL and GRASS and most people working on QGis development). I think that the therion project should try to join the OSGeo to have a better visibility, and also to be able to discuss various problems about programming. I'm also beginning in programming and one thing I want to do on therion is to add the possibility to export in postgis format and in grass format. These are just ideas... Let's discuss this !! Re: [Therion] Correct pronunciation of loch (Wookey)
by Stefan Oswald 27 Oct '06

Hello, watch http://dict.leo.org/ende?search=loch. On the "i" symbol on the right there is a .wav data with pronunciation. dict.leo.org is a quite good english-deutsch dictionary, which i always use. Geodetic coordinate system support in therion
by Stacho Mudrak 25 Oct '06

25 Oct '06

In the last developement snapshot, there is integrated PROJ4 library that enables therion to work with geodetic coordinate systems (currently UTM and Lat/Long and czechoslovak JTSK :). Usage is simple: cs long-lat fix 0 19:10 40:30 1500 will fix point 0 at E19deg10min N40deg30min 1500 m a.s.l. The output in this case will be in UTM zone 34 grid (zone automatically calculated). If you would like add and use your national coordinate systems, please ask for it. If you do not like it, nothing happens and ad-hoc local coordinate system will be used by default as before. S. P.S. If you will ask for your CS, it would be great if you could send us parametrization string of your coordinate system in PROJ4 library format (see http://proj.maptools.org)

Therion versus Survex 1.1.x
by Philip Balister 24 Oct '06

24 Oct '06

With the help of Philip Schuhardt's cmake files I have therion building. Unfortunately it appears therion does not correctly read Survex 1.1 3d files. For now, I can find a 1.0.x 3d fiel to work with. Stacho, would you mind if I set up a subversion repository on the google code hosting site? They are running subversion over http and that might work with your firewall. I also have access to some https based svn servers, but the google server would likely have better long term stability.
