SQL Export
by Thierry Gonon 05 Dec '06

05 Dec '06

Hi everybody, Here's my problem : In my .th file, I have the LRUD datas, and I want to get, in the SQL export, the coordinates of the stations on the centerline and also the coordinates of the corresponding points (I mean the upper left, upper right, lower right and lower left points measured at the station). This way, it could get the complete volume in my GRASS GIS, through nviz. Is it possible with therion, with some specific options or not ?? Thank you very much Thierry Gonon 2 Place de l'Eglise 01150 LAGNIEU Tél : 04 74 34 49 26

Surveying Maze Caves
by Jonathan Prouty 02 Dec '06

02 Dec '06

Hello all, I have a question regarding surveying (and mapping) extremely mazy multi-level caves. There is a cave near my home that has never been mapped, I assume due to it's extremely mazy nature. I am considering taking it on as a project, however, I have no idea how to survey it. Do any of you have advice as to how to best manage such a survey? I imagine I will have to be extremely careful with how I create scraps in therion, as well. I can think of several places in the cave that have 5 or 6 passages all meeting in one small room. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :-). Sincerely, Jonny Prouty

3d Model Bitmap
by Philip Schuchardt 02 Dec '06

Hey. I'm trying to get the surface bitmap working on 3d model in loch. What file format should the bitmap be in? jpg format compiles but nothing shows up in the model. An example would be really helpful. Philip Schuchardt

xtherion not responding
by Jonathan Prouty 14 Nov '06

14 Nov '06

Hello all, I finally commited to upgrading to 0.4.0 (I know, I'm terribly behind...) because xtherion began to lock up on me. Instead of trying to identify the problem and fix it, I decided that now was a good enough time to upgrade. So, I grabbed the new tarball, untarred it, ran make, then went in to test everything out before I turned it into a slackware .tgz (my own needless complication. I should go back to debian, but I digress). Unfortunately, I still have the same problem that I had under 0.3.9 :-(. When I simply run 'xtherion', the nice little bat splash screen pops up, tells me it's loading various modules, then loads up the main xtherion window, as it normally does. However, when I attempt to interact with the window, I get no response. Also, when I drag another window over top of it, the xtherion window wont redraw, which I take as an indication that it is seriously hosed. In the status bar, it also says 'User interface is not active. To activate it, open existing file or create new one'. If I run 'xtherion /on/a/known/to/work/thconfig.th' it loads up as it should, with my thconfig.th file in the editor. The window is still unresponsive however, and won't redraw. I put up an xwd screen dump at http://www.utc.edu/Students/Jonathan-Prouty/therion.png if anyone would care to look at it. I have spent an hour or so trying various things, but to no avail. Would any of you happen to have any ideas? Thank you very much in advance. Sincerely, Jonny Prouty

Link Update
by Jonathan Prouty 10 Nov '06

10 Nov '06

Hello, I just noticed on the 'Downloads' section of the Therion website that the Slackware links is broken. The server that I was hosting the packages on has moved. The old server, juno.utc.edu no longer exists. The new address follows: http://zog.utc.edu/~gqv812/therion.html I'll hopefully be putting up a package for 0.4.0 soon, as well. As always, Therion is an amazing piece of software and keep up the good work! Sincerely, Jonny Prouty
