[therion]Loch compiling on Mac OS X
by thierrygonon 31 Aug '09

31 Aug '09

Hi all, and specially Martin, I'm trying to compile loch on mac osx, so I have followed your step by step on the wiki. Compiling VTK goes without any problem... I've changed the loch Makefile in the way you present, but unfortunately, loch compilation failed ! I attach to the present message the log of loch compilation.... (NB : I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11 on an Intel Core 2 Duo) Anyone can help ?? It's probably a dummy parameter that I have to change, but which one...? Thanks Thierry

Therion means big wild furious creature. What is more correct then: "Therion’s basic features" or "Therion’s basic skills" I know computer program has features. But creature? :) m.s.

FW: FW: Continuations Bug in 5.2.11
by Bruce 30 Aug '09

30 Aug '09

The problem is associated with the 'dig' flag when -filter off. The following line ran error free until I added the word 'dig'. station BEECH "Beech tree entrance drafting in" entrance \ continuation dig attr code "Needs exploration" \ explored 05m Cheer Bruce -----Original Message----- From: therion-bounces(a)speleo.sk [mailto:therion-bounces@speleo.sk] On Behalf Of Bruce Mutton Sent: Thursday, 27 August 2009 8:20 p.m. To: 'List for Therion users' Subject: Re: [Therion] FW: Continuations Bug in 5.2.11 Have forwarded a zipped up dataset to Stacho. The problematic parameter is -filter, but only with some datasets and not with others, and only in 5.2.11 For example the following line gives an error when filter is off, but not when filter is on. export continuation-list \ -attributes on \ -filter off \ -output ./Output/BeautifulBulmerSystem_Continuations.html Bruce

offsets at different scales
by Bruce 27 Aug '09

27 Aug '09

My trusty Therion lackey Michael has been working on enlarged offsets to show greater detail in some locations, and came up with the process of exporting a map with the enlarged detail, then inserting the pdf created as a map-image as in the example below. Quite good lateral thinking I thought, but it lacks somewhat in precise control of where the image is inserted and connection points of course do not work. Does anyone have any alternative ideas for how to do this? Would offsets with a scale factor be an option for the future release? Bruce _____ From: Michael Brewer Sent: Saturday, 22 August 2009 3:03 p.m. To: bruce mutton Subject: offsets in therion hi bruce just trying to get my head around offsets or 'previews' they seem fairly straight forward if you want to offset a scrap or a map. I was interested in off setting a scrap but showing the scrap at a different scale - larger ie a blow up to show more detail - in this case the new campsite in upup and away. . michael

FW: Continuations Bug in 5.2.11
by Bruce Mutton 27 Aug '09

27 Aug '09

I've noticed that emails sent to the forum from non-subscribed accounts are not distributed, so I'll try again. _____ From: Bruce [mailto:dangle@tomo.co.nz] Sent: Saturday, 15 August 2009 3:17 p.m. To: 'List for Therion users' Subject: Continuations Bug in 5.2.11 I seem to have found a problem associated somehow with continuations in 5.2.11, and all the output variations I have tried so far work fine, except the following, export continuation-list \ -attributes on \ -filter off \ -output ./Output/BeautifulBulmerSystem_Continuations.html I have been using it with 5.2.10 for some time with no problems. I suspect the above export may have been fine with 5.2.11 until I removed a continuation from a survey and added two continuation points to replace it, one in a plan scrap, and one in an elevation scrap. (I'm not sure about that - it may never have worked) Eg point 611.5 -495.25 continuation -text "Bruce M: 0.8m dia silt filled phreatic tube, medusa" -attr code "Needs Digging" -explored 40m Maybe I'm pushing the limits with an attr code with a text string? It has worked fine up until now. The attached log files may perhaps help, but perhaps not as much as the above information. Cheers Bruce

redefine altitude symbol
by Thomas Holder 24 Aug '09

24 Aug '09

Hi, how to redefine the altitude point symbol? Defining a metapost p_altitude macro within layout/endlayout has no effect. I'd like to have a symbol like this: http://www.carto.net/neumann/caving/cave-symbols/cave_symbol_detail.php?sym… Regards, Thomas

Distorted scrap
by Hilary Greaves 24 Aug '09

24 Aug '09

Hi We're working on an extended elevation of a large system (using therion 5.2). One particular scrap appears distorted away from its centreline if and only if the adjacent scrap (which looks fine) is included, and we don't understand why. I'm attaching the relevant files. Any ideas? Cheers, Hilary

Re: [Therion] Spikes at passage ends: Loch
by Bruce Mutton 24 Aug '09

24 Aug '09

> I have in the past tried to use the 'point dimensions' entity in plan scraps, but not always with success. Actually mostly without success, (version 5.2.10) With this example, adding points along the unsurveyed passage such as point 643.75 -511.0 dimensions -value [3.0 0.0 m] modifies the output, but the end spike remains, and the passage heights along the unsurveyed passage become erratic, not particularly reflecting the dimensions entered. Spikes at passage ends: Loch
by Bruce Mutton 15 Aug '09

15 Aug '09

Hi This may have been discussed and resolved before, apologies if so. Is there a reason why loch models do this? The passage to the left of SK1, SK2 extends about 40m beyond the survey line, more or less horizontally, and so I have extended the plan and elevation scraps to draw the explored, but not surveyed, passage. (I think the elevation scrap has no effect on the model, but I can understand the reasons for that) For some reason the last little bit of the 'freehand' passage model extends up to the sky. Is there a solution? I have in the past tried to use the 'point dimensions' entity in plan scraps, but not always with success. Thanks bruce
