Missing mingwm10.dll file
by Bruce 10 Nov '09

10 Nov '09

Last week I tried to install Therion on Windows XP and Windows Vista OS machines and each time I tried to run Loch I got an error regarding a missing file, mingwm10.dll Problem was present with 5.2, 5.2.10 and 5.2.12 I eventually had success with 5.2.9 Is this file missing from the former install files or was I doing something wrong? A little perplexing as I have never had this problem on my own XP machine, on which I have successively installed the most recent versions over top of the old versions since about 0.5.1.? TIP: therion SMOOTH line drafting
by Bruce 31 Oct '09

31 Oct '09

At the risk of appearing foolish I'll send this to the group... (I'm sure we're not the only ones to have missed this feature) I've been on the cusp of asking for just this feature for some time now, as the biggest impediment to producing drawings has been having to draw straight line walls, then go through and smooth them all. So many clicks! It doesn't appear to be in the Therion book, but it has been posted on the Wiki for the last few years. http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php?id=tfc:31442 I read this when I was learning, but the subtleties of the first paragraph escaped me. Bruce _____ From: michael brewer [mailto:m.brewer@xtra.co.nz] Sent: Saturday, 31 October 2009 3:39 p.m. To: 'Bruce' Subject: RE; therion drafting Hey - I just found out something really useful . If you are inserting a wall point and you click, hold and move the mouse a fraction it automatically activates the 'smooth' function. I wonder why I haven't noticed this before. Is it new? mb

Problem solved, just playing with Cortona settings. Now I can see the raster texture. Wish Application and Windows 7
by Bruce 27 Oct '09

27 Oct '09

A couple of years ago I stumbled on the "Wish Application" that installs with Therion, and its behaviour, that is to open the XTherion editor in the correct mode as described in http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php?id=windows I'm not sure if this feature is part of the therion package 'by design' or 'by accident', but it has always worked for me with Windows XP. Yesterday I tried to implement it on a Windows 7 OS and was thwarted always by an error dialog that suggested Windows 7 was trying to interpret the thconfig-*.* file as a script to be executed. The error message was along the lines of 'encoding utf-8 bad command on line 1, expecting etc etc .' I could not figure out what application was trying to run the file as a script, and the XP compatibility feature did not seem to offer a likely solution. Can anyone offer any advice as to whether I should be using the 'Wish Application' in this way or of a likely resolution to the problem I'm having running it in Windows 7? Regards Bruce

OSX 10.6 Loch Compile Issue
by Carl Magnuson 26 Oct '09

26 Oct '09

I'm trying to compile Loch on 10.6 according to the directions here: http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php?id=masox Everything goes ok up until the loch compilation. I've double checked everything a couple of times and am pretty confident it is correct. During compiler I get the following error: In file included from lxRender.cxx:36: lxGLC.h:59: error: expected class-name before ‘{’ token make: *** [lxRender.o] Error 1 Has anyone else seen this? I'm running 10.6 on a MacBook Pro. Thanks, Carl

centerline maps
by Vasily Vl. Suhachev 12 Oct '09

Hello PDF maps from centerline is usable, but not for all cases... When passages is overlaped each over it is very annoying. It is possible to do some feateres: enable transparent LRUD polygons and draw it with slim borders? Image in attachment demonstrates my troubles -- WBR, Vasily

Fw: therion 5.2.8-1 MIGRATED to testing
by Wookey 05 Oct '09

05 Oct '09

After some 5 months(!) v 5.2.8 has made it to Debian testing So at least Debian/ubuntu users have something vaguely current. Now that that's happened I'll upload something newer, which I hope will go through rather more quickly. ----- Forwarded message from Debian testing watch <noreply(a)release.debian.org> ----- From: Debian testing watch <noreply(a)release.debian.org> Date: Mon, 05 Oct 2009 16:39:26 +0000 To: therion(a)packages.debian.org Subject: therion 5.2.8-1 MIGRATED to testing X-Spam-Status: No, score=-3.6 required=4.5 tests=AWL,BAYES_00, RCVD_IN_DNSWL_LOW autolearn=ham version=3.2.5 FYI: The status of the therion source package in Debian's testing distribution has changed. version 5.2.8 uploaded to Debian
by Wookey 01 Oct '09

01 Oct '09

I uploaded a 5.2.8-1 therion package to Debian last night. Feedback/bugs very welcome. Known issues: 1) texturing on loch has been turned off in order to let it run at all on Intel graphics cards. 2) The wiki snapshot is rather old (same as for 0.5.1 release) - can someone furnish me a new one? 3) My therion svn is broken so it's not checked in yet. Re: [Therion] Loch/Therion new user
by Giorgio Pannuzzo 25 Sep '09

25 Sep '09

Thank you for your kind response. My first requests are oriented to set easier the approach to Therion by other SW users (it's my problem, but the same for a lot o potential Therion future users). > > Therion's "import" command looses LRUD data. > > Yes, you are right. But it would be probably more easier to support > LRUD data in therion's import command. Would it solve your problem? Yes it does actually. I asked the other way just because it's a really simple way (just drag and drop) to play with my own data in Loch and then obtain a .th format to try and understand. Really immediate and useful for beginners. But, of course, if it requests a lot of work, then is better to do other most important things. Thank you for all.
