Fw: therion 5.3.15-2 MIGRATED to testing
by Wookey 25 Aug '14

25 Aug '14

Thanks to Olly for getting things to actually work, Therion (using wx-widgets3.0 and vtk6) is now back in Debian ready for the next stable release early in 2015. (It was removed a couple of months ago for not working with these updated library versions). Testing to check that this works for people is very welcome. This migration is just too late to get it into Ubuntu 14.10 (utopic), so that will release with 5.3.14-1 ----- Forwarded message from Debian testing watch <noreply(a)release.debian.org> ----- Date: Sun, 24 Aug 2014 16:39:13 +0000 From: Debian testing watch <noreply(a)release.debian.org> To: therion(a)packages.debian.org Subject: therion 5.3.15-2 MIGRATED to testing X-Spam-Status: No, score=-4.1 required=4.5 tests=AWL,BAYES_00, RCVD_IN_DNSWL_MED,T_RP_MATCHES_RCVD autolearn=ham version=3.3.2 FYI: The status of the therion source package in Debian's testing distribution has changed. FW: How can I make bitmaps overlapping in a transparentway ?

How can I suppress white space around centerline stubs ?
by Michael Wasmund 23 Aug '14

23 Aug '14

Hello, For Fuchslabyrinth cave, we're using mainly morphed bitmaps. With the standard thconfig settings, centerlines carry a "white channel" along with them, blanking out any bitmap content near the centerline (see attached image). Is there a way to a) define the centerline so that the white space around it is not generated ? b) define centerline so that it is always drawn (e.g. not only the stubs) ? c) define centerline so that it is never drawn (regardless of "point station" definitions) ? Regards, Michael

How can I make bitmaps overlapping in a transparent way ?
by Michael Wasmund 23 Aug '14

23 Aug '14

Hello, For Fuchslabyrinth cave, we're using primarily morphed bitmaps. With the default thconfig settings, at areas where bitmaps overlap, one of them is "half-transparent". (See attached image) I played with the "opaque" parameter, but the results are not what we want: opaque = 100: overlap area shows one of two bitmaps only. opaque = 0: All bitmaps vanish completely. opaque = 10: either bitmaps are drawn in extremely light colour, hardly visible. What we need is full visibility (100%) of either bitmap, regardless whether they overlap or not. Any hints how to achieve this ? If this is not possible, is there a way to control which bitmap is on top ? Regards, Michael

Not exactly Therion, but I think many of you use Distox2. Micro user guide: print it, fold it, insert into the battery compartment. m.

Patch for VTK6 support
by Olly Betts 16 Aug '14

16 Aug '14

Hi folks, Attached is a patch to make therion (in particular loch) work with vtk6. We're now using this patch in the Debian package, since Debian is switching from vtk5 to vtk6. My understanding is that loch currently uses compatibility functions which support vtk4-style code, and that the code changes should be compatible with vtk5 too. That's based on this page (I didn't test with vtk5): http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VTK/VTK_6_Migration/Replacement_of_SetInput Cheers, Olly

Log request for Therion Wiki
by Michael Lake 05 Aug '14

05 Aug '14

Hi Martin or Stacho I wanted to add a few sentences to the Wiki section: http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php/contrib:versioncontrol It looks like the register command is disabled. http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php?id=start&do=register I'm using Mercurial to maintain therion data under version control. For non-commmand line users that need a GUI we are using "EasyMercurial" (http://www.easyhg.org) Hg was chosen because this simple GUI was available and because Hg has a "large files extension" that handles binary image files really well. This was needed for the scanned images that underlie the map drawing. Separating Legend Boxes from Title
by Henry Bennett 31 Jul '14

31 Jul '14

I'm trying to place my legend boxes in a different part of the page from the main survey title and other \legendcontent info. To do this I expected to be able to define a second \legendbox and instruct the legend boxes to be drawn. Problem is that to suppress the legend boxes from the first \legendbox I've had to use "legend = off" in my map layout. This seems to suppress the rendering of all legend boxes even if I try and use "input th_legend" thereby bypassing the \iflegend test. Seems I need to reassign "legend = on" in Tex but the PDFTex manuals are not an easy read. Any ideas? ----th file---------------------------------- Layout banner legend off code tex-map \legendbox{0}{100}{NW}{ \the\legendcontent } \legendbox{50}{50}{NW}{ \input th_legend } endcode endlayout
