point passage-height as cavedepth!?
by Torsten Schnitter 04 Nov '14

Hi all I'm using passage-height:negative points as points of waterdepth in a map of a cave. How can I use the most negative number in code tex-map ... endcode section? Is it possible at all? I would like to print the maximum waterdepth into the legend of a map. But I don't want to use any kind of an override. I would like to have some automatism instead. The part "\the\cavedepth" is not working as there are parts in the cave that are some meters above the waterline. Therefore I get "wrong" numbers for the waterdepth (e.g. if the cave is going from -5m up to +5m I do get 10m as cavedepth). If there are other possiblities to get waterdepth in some kind of automatic (without using an override like \cavedepth{5} ) please let me know. Thanks for your help, Torsten

Customising map layout
by Dave Clucas 03 Nov '14

I’ve tried out the following example from thbook adding this to my layout code tex-map \def\maplayout{ \legendbox{0}{100}{NW}{\northarrow} } endcode This works fine for \northarrow and \scalebar but when I tried it with \cavename or \comment I get the following error > (./th_formdef.tex) (./th_pagedef.tex > ! Missing { inserted. > <to be read again> > } > \legendbox ...\unskip \setbox \tmpboxa =\vbox {#4} > \sx =\wd \tmpboxa \sy =\ht... > > \maplayout -> \legendbox {0}{100}{NW}{\comment } > > l.12 \setbox\xxx=\hbox to \x{\maplayout > \hfill}%\dp\xxx=0bp > A left brace was mandatory here, so I've put one in. > You might want to delete and/or insert some corrections > so that I will find a matching right brace soon. > (If you're confused by all this, try typing `I}' now.) > > ) (./th_pages.tex) > 54 numeric registers used out of 32768 > > ! Therion protractor
by vladimirg＠mail.bg 20 Oct '14

20 Oct '14

Hello again I wonder if I can make some modifications to the protractor http://therion.speleo.sk/downloads/protractor.pdf and how to do them. Can you tell me what program you used to draw the vector image? Is it something automated or you drew everything manually? The protractor is very useful, but here are the things I would change for my needs: - Make it smaller. E.g. now the line is from -15 to +15 (on the 1:200 scale). Sometimes I would rather use a smaller tool, with the line from -10 to +10 for example. - Maybe make a version with a line that is not scaled. E.g. with real centimeter scale and maybe a size of -7 to +7cm. Don't know if I explained it well enough :) Thanks Vladimir ------------------------------------- Уча.се - Вдъхнови ме! PDA
by Markus Boldt 15 Oct '14

Hi all, slowly the time goes to end, there we can buy cheap "old" PDA with Winmobile. Pockettopo works only on Win platform and small cheap devices with Windows as OS are seldom. And our devices in use are growing older. What do you all use? What alternatives are possible. I know about some so called APPS for Android, but do they work? I hope you have the same opinion - that this is the right platform. Greetings Markus

Re: [Therion] Sumatra PDF

Paul, Not seen this on the wiki but that is an awesome tip. Save a lot of thrashing around with acrobat. Henry -----Original Message----- From: therion-bounces(a)speleo.sk [mailto:therion-bounces@speleo.sk] On Behalf Of Footleg Sent: 23 September 2014 17:09 To: List for Therion users Subject: Re: [Therion] metapost error on Windows7 .... For those who run Therion on Windows and have not already seen the PDF viewer tip on the wiki, I use Sumatra PDF reader which is the only reader I have found on Windows which does not lock the PDF file when it is open in the reader, and that renders the PDF correctly as well. Using Sumatra I can keep the PDF window open and each time I recompile my project the PDF display refreshes automatically which is really handy. Footleg ....

GUI language and settings
by vladimirg＠mail.bg 02 Oct '14

02 Oct '14

Hello I had used Therion briefly in the past and now installed the latest version for Windows. It is working well, but there seems to be a problem with the settings stored in therion.ini and xtherion.ini. My Windows language is Bulgarian, but I wanted the GUI in English, so I uncommented the "language en_uk" line in therion.ini. This doesn't seem to have any effect and also changing any other setting in these files like toolbars, balloon hints, template, etc. The app is installed in the default "C:\Program Files (x86)\Therion" location and the ini files are also there. Am I missing something here? Thanks Vladimir ------------------------------------- Уча.се Бързо, Лесно и Интересно. А ти? Combining caves using different co-ordinate systems
by Footleg 24 Sep '14

24 Sep '14

I have been converting a project from an old datum to a more recent one following the issuing of new maps using the newer datum. So all my entrance GPS coordinates changed. I updated the cs statements in my survey data files and my KML output is still in the correct place. So all was looking good. Then I discovered that if I include a survey in the old cs with one using the new cs then Therion appears to treat both caves as having the same cs. Whichever cs is used by the first included cave is applied to subsequent caves too. Is there a way to deal with this? Footleg

metapost error on Windows7
by Xavier Pennec 23 Sep '14

23 Sep '14

Since I installed the last version of therion, metapost is randomly bugging on writing temporary files with the message "! I can't write on file `'. Please type another file name for input:" As this is blocking therion, I have to kill the compilation windows and retry. It usually reworks after a few try. I tried so see what was wrong in the tmp files with the compile option -d without success so far Does anyone experience the same behavior or does it come from some special feature of my installation?
