Missing explored length in continuation-list statistics
by Bruce 01 Jun '15

01 Jun '15

Just studying an output from a recent project, and I noticed that 'explored' lengths in scraps recorded against 'point continuations' are not reported in continuation-list html exports. (I have only tested html, plan and extended scraps in Therion 5.3.16) 'Explored' lengths in centrelines recorded against stations with flag continuation are reported however. A bug perhaps? Or a quirk of my project? Bruce

FW: How to mark a preferred way through a cave
by Michael Wasmund 27 May '15

Thanks, Markus, for your suggestion and kind offer! Actually meanwhile I can manage the mix of bitmaps and genuine scraps quite well, thanks also to help by forum participants. Perhaps I should make a Wiki article about bitmap processing with Therion summarizing "best practice". I may need your help in other issues, for example, obtaining geo data for surface modelling. I'd then contact you directly. Michael. -----Original Message----- From: therion-bounces(a)speleo.sk [mailto:therion-bounces@speleo.sk] On Behalf Of Markus Boldt Sent: Mittwoch, 27. Mai 2015 23:55 To: List for Therion users Subject: Re: [Therion] How to mark a preferred way through a cave Hi Michael, (in english so all can understand it, but not be angry about the poorness :-)) I know your project of "Fuchslabyrinth" and so I may say: for the future it will be the best Idea to draw the cave or the old bitmaps new. I know, it is very much work. But after you will have no Problems to add new parts and you will have all advantages of Therion. Assumed you have the old data of the centerline, that is clear. Some years ago, I have done the same with "Vetterhöhle" (2,5Km) and "Bärentalhöhle" (now 440m). The Vetterhöhle was drawn in AutoCad and that was a problem for me and others because of the very costy program and the use of it. The Bärentalhöhle was drawn simply with Tusche (is that the same word in English as in german?). 400m was not so much work, but enough. But today I`am lucky about that doing, because every year there comes some meters in addition. Drawing the Vetterhöhle in Therion was another thing, but at the end it was the best which someone can do. "Fuchslabyrinth" is very longer and so very more work, but in the end you will be lucky too. If you want, I can give you an offer: Give me the data and the corresponding bitmaps and I will help you part by part. So I have additionally an advantage; I don`t forget Therion :-) Greetings Markus PS. All other please over directly message in german :-) -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: therion-bounces(a)speleo.sk [mailto:therion-bounces@speleo.sk] Im Auftrag von Bruce (External) Gesendet: Mittwoch, 27. I hesitate to suggest this, but if you don't mind using a nasty hack, you could, for example set... flags approx ...on the route, and then redefine l_survey_cave to emphasise the approx centreline and make recessive other line flags. An example of the sort of code you could use is here http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php/metapost?s[]=approx#general_symbol_ex amples "Visualize cave centreline shot flags with colour for splay and duplicate, and dash for approximate shot flags" This will only work with pdf and probably svg outputs, and will have no effect on 3d outputs. Try this code metapost def l_u_redRoute (expr Path) = T:=identity; pickup PenC; draw Path withcolor red; enddef; def l_u_blueRoute (expr Path) = T:=identity; pickup PenC; draw Path withcolor blue; enddef; def l_u_greenRoute (expr Path) = T:=identity; pickup PenC; draw Path withcolor green; enddef; def l_u_magentaRoute (expr Path) = T:=identity; pickup PenC; draw Path withcolor (1,0,1); enddef; endcode > On 25 May 2015, at 11:00, therion-request(a)speleo.sk wrote: > > Send Therion mailing list submissions to > therion(a)speleo.sk > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > http://mailman.speleo.sk/mailman/listinfo/therion > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > therion-request(a)speleo.sk > > You can reach the person managing the list at > therion-owner(a)speleo.sk > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Therion digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. The simplest way is to export a map with proj 90 and then export the extended with the pro 90 map as an image or vice versa layout layout map-header 0 0 off endlayout layout image map-image 0 100 sw elevation90.pdf map-header 0 0 nw endlayout export map proj 90 -o elevation90.pdf -layout layout export map proj extended -o elevations.pdf layout image Dave Clucas daveclucas.com <http://daveclucas.com/> sarawak-caves.com <http://sarawak-caves.com/> dave.clucas(a)icloud.com <mailto:daveclucas@icloud.com> Exploring the World - One cave at a time > On 20 May 2015, at 11:00, therion-request(a)speleo.sk wrote: > > How to combine projection and extended elevation > into single picture?

How to combine projection and extended elevation into single picture?
by Nikita Kozlov 20 May '15

20 May '15

I've got a vertical cave survey done by 2 teams, the first one draw cave in [projection 90], and the second and most recent team continued survey with extended elevation drawing. I need to produce a pdf, where both surveys are connected to each other, what is the simplest way to do it? Do I need to play with map definitions, or there are another way?

Redefining PENA...PEND to draw lighter
by Martin Sluka 20 May '15

There are special workflows to clean low quality BW or greyscale images, used originally to clean fax messages. Principle is to use in bitmap editor combination of setup of layers and Gaussian blur. One or two times. And as last step a sharping. It works better if you increase resolution up to 600-1200 dpi first. I attached sample after and original and several screenshots. I'm sorry I don't have English Photoshop but it should be clear any way. m.s. Result:

Redefining PENA...PEND to draw lighter

YES! symbol-colour group all [60] #makes everything grey does the trick. Thanks, Bruce! Regarding Footleg's comment: Therion indeed turnes "black" bitmaps into "grey" bitmaps, see attached example, where I inverted the colors of a B/W bitmap. Perhaps this is something which could be improved in future versions? Michael.
