Yes, I saw you on this morning as I was uploading an update. Sorry, I never thought to test the link as an anonymous user. Did you get it working? > You're a good man Dave. > I have spent a short amount of time getting your 'nosurveyors' working on my > system. Bruce, I've now modified the nomaps.php to show missing projections as well. Download at http://www.daveclucas.com/cms/administrator/index.php?option=com_phocadownl… Dave Clucas daveclucas.com sarawak-caves.com dave.clucas(a)icloud.com Exploring the World - One cave at a time

Bruce, I've now added a program to list surveys with no surveyors. Strictly speaking it's centrelines with no surveyors but it list the surveys which contain those centrelines Download available i=from the same URL http://www.daveclucas.com/cms/administrator/index.php?option=com_phocadownl… Martin, I know about maps with submaps from different surveys and I use this approach but I was addressing the specific question from Bruce. I'm not sure if it has any impact on the data queries though as the queried data has already been collated by Therion. There are things in the database which I don't understand such as the blank row for each centreline. I suspect this is a row created for either explo lengths or surface lengths but I dfon't know as so far, I haven;t got any such data. I’ve looked at the sql output in the past and haven’t been able to use much of the data, parts of it such as maps seem to be undocumented. Your request has caused me to look again. I’m not sure you’ll be able to do the things you want. I have a cave system (Whiterock in Mulu) which has 123 surveys listed in the database. Each survey has a unique id and a name apart from the first record which has an id of 1 and no name. All the surveys have a parent id of 1 apart from the first record which has a parent id of 0. If I look at the maps table there are 120 records and all are referenced to survey id 1 which is obviously the top level survey so I can’t identify which survey each map belongs to. I’ve tried creating a container survey to contain all the sub surveys but, when I do, all maps are referenced to that container survey Similarly, if I look at the scraps table, all the scraps are referenced to the master survey. My index file has a map for plans and a map for elevations. Each of the maps contains all the scraps for that elevation. In addition all surveys have their own plan and elevation maps so that I can print out each survey map separately. I then created a master map which contained each of the individual survey maps but all the individual maps are still referenced to the master survey. What I’ve not tried to do is create a sql output for each survey. I’m sure that wouldn’t work anyway as the sql creates new tables and doesn’t append records. This means you would have to create a separate database for each survey and there would be no easy way of linking them. I have done some work on Andrews code and when I’m satisfied with the results I’ll post on the Wiki. Problems with sql
by Dave Clucas 14 Jul '14

Not sure what is happening here. When I query the database I find every survey has an extra CENTRELINE row with all the fields containing NULL or zero values apart from the first row which I think has no centrelines as it’s the index file. Test 2 Centreline ID Survey ID NAME TITLE 2 1 No Title 34 31 1954 1954 32 31 1954 No Title 33 31 1954 1954 38 36 1954_ramps 1954 Ramps 37 36 1954_ramps No Title 42 40 1954-endloop 1954-endloop 41 40 1954-endloop No Title 46 44 1954_up_ramp 1954 45 44 1954_up_ramp No Title 50 48 nothing_to_be_proud_of Nothing to be proud of 49 48 nothing_to_be_proud_of No Title 824 822 1954_garden_extension 1954 - Garden of Good and Evil extensions 823 822 1954_garden_extension No Title 1032 1030 a65_highway_to_the_dales dirty yorkshire habits 1031 1030 a65_highway_to_the_dales No Title 1251 1250 aah_disto No Title 1252 1250 aah_disto Aah Disto 1255 1254 ancestor_passage No Title 1256 1254 ancestor_passage Ancestor Passage Dave Clucas daveclucas.com sarawak-caves.com dave.clucas(a)icloud.com Exploring the World - One cave at a time

svg black parts
by Dirk Peinelt 09 Jul '14

09 Jul '14

I have an issue with black-parts in the embedded svg in extensible HTML export. The problem is separated in the attachment. There are some invisible borders with area objects. One of them is shown in black. The pdf export looks fine. Is this a svg export bug or a symbol problem. Have anyone an idea to bypass this, with the same symbol? If the order of the objects will be changed, the black-part is then a another of the area objects. Thanks, /d

Symbol different in legend to survey
by Jenny Black 09 Jul '14

09 Jul '14

Hi, I've notice that the area symbols look to be drawn at a different scale on my map than in the legend. I've attached two screenshots - look at the water (the lines are not the same distance apart) an the clay. This appears to happen only if I use base-scale, the attached images are with: scale 1 500 base-scale 1 200 but if I remove the base-scale line the symbols are the same in the legend and map. Am I using the base-scale option incorrectly, is there some way to tell it to apply that to the legend symbols as well as the map symbols? Or is it a bug? In case it makes a difference, I am using some custom symbols defined in my thconfig file (I found these from previous postings on this list, thank you!) Thanks, Jenny

Aven colour by date and loop error
by Bruce 08 Jul '14

08 Jul '14

I have been envious of Avens ability to colour survey centrelines, not only by elevation, but also by date and loop closure error. Particularly because Therion generated 3d files don't seem to include this information. Is this a feature that could be added to Therion's export model to format .3d without too much effort? Also, I presume that colour by date in Aven refers to 'survey date'. Is colour by 'exploration date' something that has been considered? In a serendipitous world Olly would add this extra bit to Aven (PS I like the new zoom to box feature in 1.2.14 Olly) and then Martin/Stacho would support these features in the export models. ;-) Bruce

Multiple language support
by Stelios Zacharias 08 Jul '14

08 Jul '14

Dear list, Please accept my apologies if this has been covered. Is it currently possible to output map legends and texts in multiple languages on the same document? The attached gives an idea of what I am after. This legend was put together in an image editor, not using Therion's labels. If something does not exist to allow this and if it would not be too tough to implement, perhaps multiple methods of separating the languages (slash, dash, brackets, comma) could be selectable: guano / γκουανό guano - γκουανό guano (γκουανό) guano, γκουανό Greek is great for legends and labels for internal use, but sometimes we want surveys to travel outside the borders as well, and sometimes surveys are the result of international expeditions and it would be nice to have two (or even more - EN/FR/EL, for example) languages on the survey. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Stelios

Therion database web interface
by Bruce 05 Jul '14

05 Jul '14

I am wanting to add some cave databases to the web along the lines of what Andrew describes here http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php/contrib:databasequery I have something working locally based on what Andrew submitted, although their are minor warnings that my system throws up, presumambly due to different system requirements, that I think I can fix. Before I teach myself php, I thought I should ask to see if anyone has developed Andrews code, or something similar, to a more comprehensive extent, and if they have ask if they would share it? Ideas I have are; -more comprehensive result tables -add map awareness, ie debug which surveys have no scraps or no maps of particular projections -debug which surveys have no surveyors or no explorers etc Thanks Bruce
