Aven colour by date and loop error
I have been envious of Avens ability to colour survey centrelines, not only by elevation, but also by date and loop closure error. Particularly because Therion generated 3d files don't seem to include this information. Is this a feature that could be added to Therion's export model to format .3d without too much effort? Also, I presume that colour by date in Aven refers to 'survey date'. Is colour by 'exploration date' something that has been considered? In a serendipitous world Olly would add this extra bit to Aven (PS I like the new zoom to box feature in 1.2.14 Olly) and then Martin/Stacho would support these features in the export models. ;-) Bruce

It's whatever you put in the *date commands - that's expected to be the survey date, but it isn't currently used for anything like autocomputing the declination. But that doesn't really help if you want both dates available. I'm planning to add exploration date at some point, but it'll need another revision of the 3d file format, so I'm going to try to sort out all the other things which need such a revision (like other survey metadata) and do them all together rather than have a new version of the format every release or two. Although now I think about it, it might be possible to avoid that - e.g. setting the date twice without anything in between could be defined to mean the first date is the exploration and the second the survey date, but existing readers would see this as if the first setting wasn't there, and existing writers shouldn't produce this. Maybe there's some problem I'm overlooking, but it seems plausible.

Me too.

The aven part isn't much work once the data is available in the 3d format. Cheers, Olly

In therion the date is used for survey date and explo-date is used for discovery/exploration date. In therion the date IS used to calculate declinations where there is also a coordinate system specified. It would be nice to maintain this level of compatibility across the two. Bruce
