It worked fine with them connected to my Mac Mini but I have a problem correctly intalling Therion on the Mac Mini. Dave Clucas daveclucas.com sarawak-caves.com dave.clucas(a)icloud.com

How do I use this formula to install Therion? If I use brew install thereon I get mycaves:~ daveclucas$ brew install therion Error: No available formula for therion Searching taps... homebrew/science/therion I don’t know where to go from there. > there is now therion homebrew formula created by one of the therion users so it should be much easier to install therion on Mac - https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-science/blob/master/therion.rb Dave Clucas daveclucas.com sarawak-caves.com dave.clucas(a)icloud.com Exploring the World - One cave at a time

It looks like the problem may be OSX 10.9.3. Therion is not working correctly on this version. My other Mac with 10.9.2 is working OK. Dave Clucas daveclucas.com sarawak-caves.com dave.clucas(a)icloud.com

maximum map scale
by Corvi Marco 23 May '14

hi, the map scale can not be larger than 1:50. that is hardcoded in the sources. i appreciate if the limit is raised to 1:40, at least. thanks, marco This email and any attachments are confidential to the intended recipient and may also be privileged. Installation on Mac OSX 10.9.3
by Dave Clucas 23 May '14

I have been trying to install on the latest version of Mavericks following the instructions in the Therion Wiki by Ladislav Blažek. In a previous attempt there was an error loading VTK with brew so I installed it manually and missed out that step this time. When I came to compile Therion it finished with the following error tclsh mkall.tcl make -C ./loch make[1]: wx-config: Command not found c++ -c -Wall -D_GNU_SOURCE -DLOCH -W -Wall -DLXMACOSX -I/usr/local/include/vtk-5.10 -Wno-deprecated -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/local/Cellar/freetype/2.5.3_1/include/freetype2 -o lxOGLFT.o lxOGLFT.cxx In file included from lxOGLFT.cxx:27: ./lxOGLFT.h:28:10: fatal error: 'wx/wx.h' file not found #include <wx/wx.h> ^ 1 error generated. make[1]: *** [lxOGLFT.o] Error 1 make: *** [loch/loch] Error 2 Dave Clucas daveclucas.com sarawak-caves.com dave.clucas(a)icloud.com Exploring the World - One cave at a time

Xtherion - User defined areas in Map Editor
by Steve Clark 22 May '14

22 May '14

I may be missing something here, apologies if I'm making an obvious error! I am having difficultly with user defined areas in the Map Editor (v. 5.3.14) When I want to draw a user defined line (eg. u:divingline), I just enter u:divingline in the 'type' box of the Lines section and it works fine. When I try to draw a user-defined area (eg. u:lake), I enter u:lake in the 'type' box it automatically fills in the 'options' box with -subtype lake. I can't seem to find any way of entering a user-defined area in the Map Editor such that it appears correctly in the text of the .th2 file as 'area u:lake' I can correct it by manually editing the .th2 file in the text editor and it works fine, but whenever I open and then save the .th2 file again in the map editor it reverts to 'u -subtype lake'. Any help much appreciated. Regards, Steve Clark

Selective display of survey lines
by Steve Clark 21 May '14

21 May '14

On a related note to Alvaro's questions regarding show and hide of survey lines, I'm looking for some advice on the best way to handle the selective displaying of some survey lines, but not others. We have a project surveying a mainly submerged (diving) cave. The vast majority of our survey stations and connecting lines are an actual continuous physical line in the cave (say 300 stations). Some stations (maybe 50) do not have physical lines connecting them (e.g. gaps/jumps in the line and dry disto survey). We would like to be able to : 1. Produce a map with with no lines at all (seems easy, use 'symbol-hide line survey' & 'symbol-hide point station' ) 2. Produce a map with only the physical lines shown, but not the other survey lines. This is as a resource for divers to show the line configuration and navigation etc. but not the other survey information. What is the best way to achieve 2? I've considered making a user-defined line type 'u:caveline' and drawing it in all the scraps where submerged line exists. Then hide all survey lines and stations. This would be laborious but may give most flexibility. Is this the best way or can anyone suggest an alternative approach? Regards, Steve Clark

Error on large file due to scale
by John Stevens 27 Apr '14

I have been compiling a file at various scales. At 1:1250 it compiles but at 1:2500 it goes into a loop and doesn’t finish The only difference other than the scale is a change in font size, to try and remove the small fonts [Warning: text scaled down to fit the path in scrap stpaulsps6(a)stpauls.summerti me.agenallwedd] [1259] [1260] [1261] [1262] [1263] ! Continue and I'll try to cope with that big value; but it might be dangerous. (Set warningcheck:=0 to suppress this message.) ! Try this as a starting point. You should be able to introduce some randomization and rounded corners. def a_tiless (expr p) = T:=identity; pickup PenC; path q, qq; q = bbox p; picture tmp_pic; uu := max(u, (xpart urcorner q - xpart llcorner q)/100, (ypart urcorner q - ypart llcorner q)/100); tmp_pic := image( for i = xpart llcorner q step 2uu until xpart urcorner q: for j = ypart llcorner q step 2uu until ypart urcorner q: qq := punked (((-.5uu,-.5uu)--(.5uu,-.5uu)--(.5uu,.5uu)--(-.5uu,.5uu)--cycle) ) shifted ((.6i,.6j) ); if xpart (p intersectiontimes qq) < 0: thclean qq; thdraw qq; fi; endfor; endfor; ); clip tmp_pic to p; drawoptions(); draw tmp_pic; enddef; Dave Clucas daveclucas.com mycaves.org. daveclucas(a)icloud.com
