"\legendbox" "\loadpicture" and absolute paths
by rowena 14 Mar '21

Hello, I am using the "\loadpicture" capability in "\legendbox" constructs to include map sections, elevations, etc. It all works nicely on my PC where I am using relative paths to the pdf files. My club has a desire to archive the map data for posterity - ie if my pc dies or I go walkabout, the map data should still be available so that others can add to the maps as they are extended. I would prefer to have the images included using relative pathnames, rather than absolute pathnames, so that future explorers can download the map data and extend it, without having to duplicate my file hierarchy. How can I include relative paths in the \loadpicture functionality? Thanks, Rowena

Therion's Loch features (incognito) on NZ TV
by Bruce 19 Oct '15

Loch model of 39 km cave features in this TV news clip at 3:47 (Me carrying two packs on the opening still, and stuck at 2:00) http://www.3news.co.nz/Deepest-cave-discovered-in-our-backyard/tabid/817/art icleID/330973/Default.aspx Centreline data has been processed for the last few(?) decades with a home-made unix application that uses proprietary routines, so will only live while Jonathan is with his current employer. As you might have guessed, an 'export to Therion' routine is being worked on. Bruce

Lines and points outside walls
by Adam Sampson 30 Jan '15

30 Jan '15

I'm trying to see if there is a way to show all features...even if they are outside of the outer walls on my scrap/sketch. My team is using TopoDroid to do sketching in cave and then outputting that data for use. I then have to deal with that data and it would be nice to see everything they've drawn while I'm fixing the sketch. Right now the capacitive stylus leaves lots of overlapped wall lines and then I get big blank spots in my map if I try to export it directly. I export it directly so that I can see what all the pieces are while I'm fixing the .th2 file. It is a lot easier to visualize than those yellow lines in the therion editor. Appreciate any help. symbol "u" problem
by herich＠speleodd.sk 29 Jan '15

29 Jan '15

Hello, I don´t know what I am doing wrong, but if I use something like this in layout: symbol-hide line wall (or show, color, assign), everything works perfect. But, it doesn´t work with "u" , so symbol-hide line u:definedname will make an error with comment - unknown symbol specification. In layout there is a definition of u:definedname, as well as "initsymbol("l_u_definedname"); , outside layout is defined name for legend and everything works well, except symbol-hide (or so) command. Do you have any idea? Thank you Palo

Embedding cross-sections based on bitmaps
by Michael Wasmund 28 Jan '15

28 Jan '15

Hello, I'm familiar with the method of embedding cross-sections made using scrap editor. That works. For our 10km - cave, we have 100's of cross-sections scanned from paper (i.e., bitmaps), drawn decades ago. How can I embed those? The method used for scanned paper surveys seems not to work. Whatever parameters I use, the cross-section scrap remains invisible. (Pls don't tell me we have to re-draw all the cross-sections) Regards, Michael.

How to imbed cross-sections based on bitmaps
by Michael Wasmund 28 Jan '15

28 Jan '15

Hello, Generating and embedding cross-sections based on scraps is well described and works. My question: How do I imbed a cross-section which was not drawn using scrap editor, but is a scanned bitmap? Whatever parameters I use, it will not show, remains invisible. Can someone send me an example or point to the location where this is described? (Pls don't tell me I have to redraw 100's of cross sections using scrap-editor) Regards, Michael.

Depth labels different from altitude
by vladimirg＠mail.bg 28 Jan '15

28 Jan '15

Hi I am trying to display a depth bar on the extended profile that starts from 0. Not to show the altitude, but only the depth of the cave relative to the entrance. This is not a problem if I use the FIX command like: centerline cs long-lat fix 1 11:22:33.3 22:33:44.4 1000 # fix point 1to the WGS coordinates and altitude The thing is that I don't want to put 0 for an altitude because it seems useful to have the real altitude for some 3D, overlays, etc So I would like to use FIX with the altitude, but on the extended to see the cave depth starting from 0. I tried with some combinations of grid-origin like this, but I still see the altitude in the depth bar: layout xelev grid bottom cs long-lat grid-origin 0 0 0 m Is there a way to do it? volume of a cave
by Filippo Gregori 27 Jan '15

27 Jan '15

Hello, I would like calculating volume of a cave. I made the survey and I exported with therion loch the file in .vtk. I'm using paraview now, it's a good software for modelling of a solid 3d but I don't found a simple solution to resolve my problem. Have you ever done this calculation? And how? Thanks Filippo Gregori (Vicenza - IT)

Pocket Topo Shot Direction question
by Footleg 26 Jan '15

26 Jan '15

Can anyone tell me what the purpose/use is of the menu item in PocketTopo on the data screen which says either 'Shot ->' or 'Shot <-' ? I see it set to one or the other on my shots depending whether they were forward or back shots. But then the shots direction is still indicated primarily by the station names in the From and To columns. So I am not clear what this menu item does or when I might want or need to use it? Footleg
