Magnetic declination meltdown
by Bruce 21 Jan '15

21 Jan '15

It seems I was wrong about the cause of the problem, the problem is more in Therion than in data entry. Looks like Therion 5.3.15 cannot handle survey dates in 2015 (as implied in the changes logs), and so 5.3.16 is required to use coordinate systems with surveys dated from 2015 onwards. That is OK, but what could be improved, is the reporting of the error to something like. magnetic declination not available for survey date and also to improve the variable \magdecl in this circumstance. Bruce _____ From: Bruce [mailto:bruce@tomo.co.nz] Sent: Monday, 19 January 2015 4:34 p.m. To: 'List for Therion users' Subject: Magnetic declination meltdown A random discovery with the new tex variable \magdecl = magnetic declination in degrees. If one uses a defined coordinate system and forgets to provide a survey date for all surveys, then there is some 'not very well trapped' undesirable behaviour. The log file produces something like this. "C:\Program Files\Therion\therion.exe: warning -- unable to determine magnetic declination for undated surveys output coordinate system: EPSG:2193 meridian convergence (deg): -0.0696 " which is appropriate behaviour, however it is followed by. In this case it might be better to set \magdecl to a more meaningful error value. If it can take a string value then "unable to determine magnetic declination for undated surveys" is probably good. Re: [Therion] Therion doesn't run on Windows (rowena) (Graham Mullan)

I uninstalled Therion and reinstalled it. It said it would put a shortcut in a start menu folder called Therion. After installation I could not see a shortcut anywhere. I followed Rowena’s advice and created one manually on the desktop. This worked fine. I must say I’m not impressed with the Windows 8 UI. Glad I don’t normally have to use Windows. My apologies. The station names are there but the font is so small they are barely visible. I’ll customise the font sizes. Dave One wonders quite what you are doing to get to that command line. This machine is running Windows 8.1 and has Therion 5.3.16 installed. On installation, Therion placed a shortcut in my Start menu. That points, as does Rowena's at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Therion\bin\wish86t.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Therion\xtherion.tcl" Now, if I navigate to therion.exe at C:\Program Files (x86)\Therion\therion.exe I, too get a command line box and the message: C:\Program Files (x86)\Therion\therion.exe: error -- source files not specified. What I don't quite understand is why your machine doesn't have the correct shortcut installed. Graham

Therion doesn't run on Windows
by Dave Clucas 17 Jan '15

I’ve just installed Therion on a Windows machine. When I click on the Therion shortcut it opens a command window and gives the following error. “C:\Program Files (x86)\Therion\xtherion.exe” is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file Running Windows 8 about which I know absolutely nothing, I normally use a mac. Languages in team member names
by vladimirg＠mail.bg 15 Jan '15

Martin (or anyone else), do you know if this was supposed to be fixed in v5.3.16? I tested it and including languages in the "team" command text still produces incorrect results. Best Vladimir ----- Цитат от Martin Sluka (martinsluka at mac.com) на 26.11.2014 There should be a new release, so I hope it will be corrected. m.s. Well, maybe I'm not trying it correctly, but it still doesn't work for me. What you suggest works for "-text", "-title" and other options, but not for the "team" section of the "centerline". The syntax below centreline team "Name EnglishName Bulgarian" produces "Name English.lang:bg.Name Bulgarian" on the map instead of selecting the default or the BG text. Vladimir ----- Цитат от Martin Sluka (martinsluka at mac.com) на 20.11.2014 в 12:38 ----- th2: label: label -text "no lang. selected perspektívne pokračovanie do ''ementálu'' promising continuation to labyrinth vazhdime të mundshme të ngatëruara" thconfig/layout language sk language sk/en_UK/sq It should work m.s. 19. 11. 2014 v 17:08, vladimirg at mail.bg [1]: Hi Is there a way to include names of team members in different languages? E.g. my name in Cyrillic would spell differently than in Latin. Something like this works: survey XX -title "CaveПещера" but this does not work: survey centreline team "Name EnglishName Bulgarian" Any ideas?
