Thanks Martin Very informative. Even a little familiar code in there. I’m flattered. Now the only question I have is how to do something like; input a-standard-tex-module.txt inside of the code tex-map block? I have come up with a long and more complicated (but more useful) custom the\legendcontent, and furthermore, it is always undergoing incremental improvement. To replicate this in every independent map layout is not really a workable solution, but at the moment it is the only way I can think of. Andrey I’m interested in what you are trying to do with point 1, probably something I want to turn my mind to in the next few months. Back on 2 July I asked a similar question “Can we invoke multiple tex-map \maplayouts for each exported map output?” but didn’t get any response. Perhaps a stupid question, or self-evidently never going to work. I have not looked at it since. At present I don’t have any answers for you. Perhaps look at Henry’s contribution here, as it seems like he has this aspect under control, https://github.com/speleo/SpeleoPhilippines/blob/master/Region-2/BlueWaterC… and copying from his post earlier this week… Take a look at this https://github.com/speleo/SpeleoPhilippines/blob/master/CodeLibrary/_layout… You’ll then need to inject the code into your thconfig file using the “input” command. https://github.com/speleo/SpeleoPhilippines/blob/master/Region-2/Baggao/thc… Bruce From: Therion [mailto:therion-bounces@speleo.sk] On Behalf Of ?????? ???????? via Therion Sent: Wednesday, 16 August 2017 7:42 AM To: Therion(a)speleo.sk Cc: андрей коженков <drunews(a)mail.ru> Subject: [Therion] Doubled legend and cyrillic in metapost Dear Therion users, I've got few issues with map header customization using metapost and tex code. 1. Then I am trying to move north arrow and legend somehere away from main map header using "\def\maplayout {\legendbox{5}{90}{NW}}" code the legend and norh arrow is printed twice. I'm sure I've made a mistake here but after few days of messing with the code result is still the same. <snipped> -- Thanks Andrey

Area "filled"
by Markus Boldt 16 Sep '17

Hello, is there a possibility in Therion to get a signature for an area "filled", "refilled" or something similar? Background is, we have dug in a cave and by digging we have filled a small chamber. Greatings Markus

Markus, instead of going to the trouble of creating complex code to include this fill symbol in a legend box, why don't you just add a label to your map. It seems you are making it too complicated for something which will not occur often. Multiple fixes for the same point
by Andrew Atkinson 12 Sep '17

I'm sure that this has been covered, but I cannot find it anywhere. I have 3 different gps results for a surface point, all taken with the same gps but on different days, so rather then picking one I just used fix on all 3. However, therion appears to be taking only the last one I enter. This does not seem to be the right behaviour! Is there a way for Therion to take all 3 and 'average' them? thanks in advance Andrew

Andrew has shown up an interesting flaw in both Therion and Survex. A single fix of a point, unless otherwise qualified, will always be presumed to be more accurate than multiple fixes than multiple fixes even though (I suppose, I don't have the maths) the latter should be better. Unless one is using a decent dGPS system to fix the points, it is also potentially the case that the relationship between two fixed points at entrances will be better described by the intervening underground survey data than by the GPS fixes made using consumer hand-held devices. I will soon have to be dealing with a similar problem with a multi-entrance cave as the various lines of data join up - like Andrew's this is a dataset obtained on expo and I'll not get any more data until next year so 'soon' is a bit wrong. I think we will solve this by getting as good a fix as possible for one entrance and then using our survey data to delimit the other entrances. I'll also, however collect GPS records of the same spots and highlight the differences. The answer may be to insist that fixed point data must include an estimate of precision and that non-entry for that field would default to something worse than an exact fix. I have, in the past done this the other way around, though. I have a dataset for one relatively linear multi-entrance cave, but the data is very old and was not collected using an inclinometer, passage gradients are generally of the order of 2-3 degrees. So I used the fixed points for the entrances to skew the profile of the cave. The resulting model was a reasonable facsimile of reality. Graham

Hi RobSorry for Laughing. You are right about the definition of and semantics of clay. To be honest it took me years to feel comfortable calling mud clay. And not having mud or silt symbols. Bruce Sent from my Samsung device, hence the typo's
