A while ago, due to excessive junk mail, I changed my email address and have only just realised I no longer receive Therion emails. Could you change my address from dave(a)daveclucas.com <mailto:dave@daveclucas.com> to dave.clucas(a)icloud.com <mailto:dave.clucas@icloud.com>. Thanks. Pocket Topo on windows 10?
by Xavier Pennec 12 Apr '17

Is anyone able to run pocket on Windows10? I am currenty unable to install .Net framework 3.5 required to run it (on win10 professonial). I need to download data from a distoX2 to feed my therion files but I am currently blocked without pocket topo. Any idea or insight? Re: [Therion] Pocket Topo on windows 10?

Hi Martin, Yes I saw your email, and I already tried what is in this page before. The activation with the link is what is not working, and I cannot try the DISM command as I don't have a dvd with the windows sources: my win10 is the professional edition and the configuration is probably different from the win10 home edition. Before raising the problem to our system engineers, I wanted to verify if it was coming from the win10 config or from a more general problem with pockettopo. Disconnected centrelines - Extended Elevation Control
by Bruce Mutton 10 Apr '17

10 Apr '17

I am braving the creation of some extended elevations of some main routes through a cave with a number of branches, loops, through trips and hopefully to include a nearby cave. Looking at the attachment First-Sample. I have an extended elevation that traverses a number of centrelines, some in the direction of survey, some against the direction of survey and one loop, which itself traverses a couple of surveys. It looks simple, but was a challenge, although it now looks how I want it to. Along the way to building it, there were plenty of times when there were random offsets that I had no control over. Although I have some insights as to why that might have been, and think I understand extend start, ignore, hide, there were plenty of times when it appeared that large offsets were occurring for no apparent reason. Anyway, the attached First-Sample. looks as I want it. Now I want to add another very short cave, which is connected by a long series of survey centrelines, although these centrelines are not to be part of this elevation, so are not included in the centreline maps I have created. See the attached 2caves-Sample. The second cave, and small part of surface survey, should ideally be located just to the right of the main elevation, because that is where, in reality there is a small gap between them. There is no survey of the gap of course - the survey goes around the long cave passages and surface to get there! (And there are gps fixed stations as well, so the surveys could potentially be disconnected, but that might mess with the plan maps - as usual there is a bit of misclose!) I have tried using a start statement for each, and a start statement for only one of them. This has no effect, and even if it did, there is not much chance it would produce the result I wanted. Is there a way to control the starting location of this second piece of (disconnected) centreline? Bruce

Is it possible to use somehow rotated elevation data?
by Nikita Kozlov 07 Apr '17

07 Apr '17

When preparing layout of raster map, we can use command *rotate*, for example to save space of minimal bounding box of resulted pdf map. Is it possible to do same trick with elevation grid data? For example, I have a mountain with the cave going through it. Mountain goes from SW to NE. Can I somehow define rotated by 45 degree coordinate system, to be understood by therion, generate elevation data from ASTER in that local rotated coordinate system, and combine both cave, mount, texture to small, "minimal aligned bounding box" .lox file?

Aven colour by loop error
by Bruce Mutton 05 Apr '17

05 Apr '17

Following on from this thread <https://www.mail-archive.com/therion@speleo.sk/msg04871.html> 2.5 yrs ago where I was asking about Therion support of Aven features. Therion files exported to .3d format now display 'colour by' depth, survey date, gradient and leg length when viewed with Aven. But not colour by loop error. Is 'colour by loop error' something that could readily be added to the Therion export? Bruce
