Current Therion for Windows version 30Mar2017
An update. The Therion v30Mar2017 update has resolved most of my Therion v13Mar2017 beta version issues as below; * Loch right-click untrapped errors :FIXED * An error to do with ‘symbol-show point cave-station:fixed’ :FIXED * Survex Loop closure consistently causing untrapped errors :FIXED * Two th-config’s where Therion not able to delete a temporary folder, corrupting log files :UNRESOLVED Bruce
* An error to do with ‘symbol-show point cave-station:fixed’ Alas not entirely fixed, or at least not the same as it was before… symbol-hide group cave-centreline symbol-show point cave-station:fixed Above sequence used to work, but now gives the error; C:\...\therion.exe: error -- ./LayoutMapThisCave.thc [54] -- ./LayoutMapThisCave.thc [54] -- unknown symbol specification -- point cave-station:fixed But there is a good workaround, the sequence I mentioned before, works just fine; symbol-hide group cave-centreline #1. hides all centrelines, incl station-names - clears the canvas symbol-show point cave-station #2. set up for identifying cave-stations to show/hide symbol-show point station:fixed #3. actually show/hide (cave-)stations of mark ... Bruce
I found it, the following error is reported by cavern:
####################### cavern log file ######################## 1> Survex 1.2.30 2> Copyright © 1990-2016 Olly Betts 3> /tmp/th24737/data.svx:113:47: Fehler: Standardabweichung muss positiv sein 4> *fix 1 ------.------ ------.------ ---.------ 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 5> ^~~~~~~~
The source giving causing it is:
fix 1.0 xxxxx yyyyy zzzzz 0 0 0
If i remove the standard-deviation zeros, cavern stops to complain. The reason was that the entrance location was measured by public service against official grid by theodolite and as such is "perfectly correct". How can i give this information? Am i forced to use some minimal positive fraction? (eg. "0.00001"?) If yes, could this be an cavern bug? Am 2017-04-02 12:53, schrieb Benedikt Hallinger:

Everything seems to be fine in the map, but what does this exit code mean?

Just omit the SDs - that means it's an exact fix.
If yes, could this be an cavern bug?
It's really a bug in the .svx file therion generates - it should omit the zero SDs even if they're explicitly specified in the .th file, since the documented syntax for an exact *FIX command is that you omit the SDs. Cheers, Olly

Ol has uploaded this already, so it's built on all release architectures and available now: https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=therion&suite=experimental https://packages.qa.debian.org/t/therion.html As always, feedback welcome. Just to be clear, that upload is to Debian experimental because Debian is frozen for the imminent stable release. It will be 5.3.16-10 (which does actually include some of the changes in 5.4) in that stable release. As soon as the release is done we'll move therion 5.4 into unstable. Hello, i have a bunch of Lox files here, that i want to combine with surface data. I also want to combine all this into one new lox to investigate the caves relationships. Is there any possibility to do that without the source therion data, similar to the survey use method for survex 3D files? Thank you very much!
If you open (Ctrl+O) one file, then import (Ctrl+I) the remaining files, that will get them all in Loch at the same time. Only requires that the same coordinate system is used to generate all files. Is that what you are after? I notice drag and drop works fine to open files, but I could not use that to import files. I'd like to request the option to use Ctrl+drag or shift+drag to import files, if anyone is ever tinkering with Loch. This works as expected :) the last problem now is, that the surface lox is in a different coordinate system than the caves (EPSG:31468 vs. lat-long) :/ I hoped loch would recognize this and recalculate as appropriate, but that was not the case. Is there some option to convert conviniently? I have access to the surface raw data so as a last resort i can fall back to gdal tools to convert the height model and satellite image.

Hello, i have a bunch of Lox files here, that i want to combine with surface data. I also want to combine all this into one new lox to investigate the caves relationships.
Is there any possibility to do that without the source therion data, similar to the survey use method for survex 3D files?
Thank you very much! _______________________________________________ Therion mailing list Therion@speleo.sk https://mailman.speleo.sk/listinfo/therion

Is it not straight forward use Therion to recompile either the surface or the caves? Regardless of the input cs, you can specify the output cs in the thconfig file. For example I always have this section in my thconfigs... #SPECIFY OUTPUT COORDINATE SYSTEM #================================= # Recommended if you have one or more coordinate systems defined in source surveys or surfaces # Often required if you also export to atlas # Choose coordinate systems that are relevant to the cave locations! # cs EPSG:2193 #NZ Transverse Mercator 2000 cs EPSG:27200 #NZ Map Grid 1949
thanks. I updated the archlinux AUR package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/therion/ cheers, d. -- gpg --recv-key 0x88D6D3C6
Thank you very much! I corrected all my fixes to the right syntax now and it works fine. Am 2017-04-05 20:02, schrieb Olly Betts:

If i remove the standard-deviation zeros, cavern stops to complain.
The reason was that the entrance location was measured by public service against official grid by theodolite and as such is "perfectly correct". How can i give this information? Am i forced to use some minimal positive fraction? (eg. "0.00001"?)
Just omit the SDs - that means it's an exact fix.
If yes, could this be an cavern bug?
It's really a bug in the .svx file therion generates - it should omit the zero SDs even if they're explicitly specified in the .th file, since the documented syntax for an exact *FIX command is that you omit the SDs.

when compiling my project, i get an cavern error:
therion: warning -- cavern exit code -- 256
Everything seems to be fine in the map, but what does this exit code mean?
256 is the number returned by system(), which runs another program. If the bottom 8 bits are zero (as here) then the next 8 bits are the exit status of cavern, so in this case 1 which means there was an error (or multiple errors) while procesing the data. If cavern had been killed by a signal (e.g. a segmentation fault) then the bottom 8 bits would be (signal_number | 0x80), so on Linux you'd get 139 for a segmentation fault. Cheers, Olly
