code tex-map /comment
by Andrew Atkinson 18 Apr '13

Hi all I am having a little difficulty with this. What I am aiming at is the scale bar and north arrow in the top right and comment legend and comment in bottom left(ish) so I have got to this code tex-map \def\maplayout{ \legendbox{0}{80}{nw}{ \scalebar \bigskip \northarrow } \legendbox{80}{0}{sw}{ \formattedlegend } } endcode Which works fine however as soon as I try to add /comment it either does not compile with a 256 error, or the comment does not appear. If I only have map-header 0 80 nw code tex-map \comment={Some words}{} endcode that works fine (although second set of brackets took a while to get), but not sure what use when I could use map-comment. but I cannot find a way to use it in \legendbox. any hints appreciated thanks Andrew

calibrate clino -90 1 1 2 2.0 270 150 still gives gradient reading out of range -- 150 however, I chose not to use this as Pockettopo that I was using for drawing does not understand it Andrew On 17/04/13 20:08, Martin Sluka wrote: > > Apr 17, 2013 v 8:53 PM, Andrew Atkinson <andrew(a)wotcc.org.uk>: > >> For completeness, the Total station also seems to allow 0 as down, 90 as >> horizontal, > > If this is right use: calibrate clino -90 1 > > Martin

Absolute Clino reading
by Andrew Atkinson 17 Apr '13

Hello I have been forced to use a total station for some of the cave surveys I am doing due to the amount of metal/electricity in the cave. The total station records absolute angles, (in degrees and minutes) which therion does not process. So 320 should be interpreted as -40 therion: error -- Entrance.th [53] -- gradient reading out of range -- 321:49 however a quick check and survex does, but gives a warning, should Therion not also do this, it would save me having to do a tedious conversion. (Survex does not understand degrees and minutes but that is not really relevant) Example part of the file 1.0 1.1 1.56 - up 0 is steel pin in tarmac, first 4X marking #Tony's notes, azi and bearing swapped, but as this is the DistoX leg, it must be the corrected version #1.1 1.2 38.463 87:52 90:22 2 is Coxs Entrance #corrected version form DistoX [AA: April 13] 1.1 1.2 38.463 90.2 3 1.1 1.3 18.132 137:38 83:07 3 is Ladye Chapel Entrance & WIS fixed point 1.2 - 1.428 247:57 321:49 to top of arch 1.2 - 1.06 248:04 88:17 1.2 - 1.271 69:11 321:27 1.2 1.4 1.55 - down to nail in pavement 1.2 1.5 11.360 152:40 2:02 1.5 - 3.327 325:35 332:05 1.5 - 2.189 194:30 314:59 1.5 - 3.886 113:49 64:35 thanks Andrew

Hi all, is it a way to automatically add elevations values to the sketch editor from pocket topo data? ThnxChristos

Using smaller fonts
by Jackson 10 Apr '13

Hi, is it possible to use a smaller font size for the station-name? I know to use -scale xs for the station-name. It is not small enough and I want to change this global. So i tried using the "def fonts_setup" but nothing happens write "\def\thstationname{\size[4]}" to "mptexpre.tex"; Under debug mode -d i can find this saved in mptexpre.tex But no change in the output pdf Glück tief Christian -- +----------------------------------------------+ | FUND Freunde Unterwelt Dachstein e.V. | | http://www.fund-ev.de | +----------------------------------------------+

From Luc: the export feature also targets Survex, Therion and Walls. Next version will add sketches to the Therion export. Martin Sluka

The cave i am surveying has a large main chamber, about 70m wide and 100m long. The disto cant reach the edges of the chamber from the centre of the chamber, so as a result i surveyed several loops inside this one chamber. although i enclosed all these loops in single cave wall, it appears as if therion still sees this as multiple passsages and calculates the length of the cave accordingly so how do i approach this large chamber problem from a therion perspective? thank you in advance. Re: [Therion] Line widths in pdf
by Graham Mullan 01 Apr '13

Bruce Thank you that was the right piece of code. You have to play with the figures to get the relevant thickness for any given image. I ended up with def PenA = pencircle scaled (u/4) enddef and with all the other lines altered to (u/4) as well. There seems to be a lower limit, so if you try to make the lines too small nothing changes, but making them thicker certainly works. Graham

Line widths in pdf

Is it possible to control the line thicknesses in pdf files? When I export my pdf as an image file into publishing software, the lines are much too thin. I have played with scaling but it seems not to make much difference Graham -- graham.mullan(a)coly.org.uk 0117 9502556 or 07887 637064 (or 0844 2327803)
