Hello I have been forced to use a total station for some of the cave surveys I am doing due to the amount of metal/electricity in the cave. The total station records absolute angles, (in degrees and minutes) which therion does not process. So 320 should be interpreted as -40 therion: error -- Entrance.th [53] -- gradient reading out of range -- 321:49 however a quick check and survex does, but gives a warning, should Therion not also do this, it would save me having to do a tedious conversion. (Survex does not understand degrees and minutes but that is not really relevant) Example part of the file 1.0 1.1 1.56 - up 0 is steel pin in tarmac, first 4X marking #Tony's notes, azi and bearing swapped, but as this is the DistoX leg, it must be the corrected version #1.1 1.2 38.463 87:52 90:22 2 is Coxs Entrance #corrected version form DistoX [AA: April 13] 1.1 1.2 38.463 90.2 3 1.1 1.3 18.132 137:38 83:07 3 is Ladye Chapel Entrance & WIS fixed point 1.2 - 1.428 247:57 321:49 to top of arch 1.2 - 1.06 248:04 88:17 1.2 - 1.271 69:11 321:27 1.2 1.4 1.55 - down to nail in pavement 1.2 1.5 11.360 152:40 2:02 1.5 - 3.327 325:35 332:05 1.5 - 2.189 194:30 314:59 1.5 - 3.886 113:49 64:35 thanks Andrew
Does it mean the angles are counterclockwise not clockwise? Where is zero (N, E, S, W)? Apr 17, 2013 v 6:57 PM, Andrew Atkinson <andrew@wotcc.org.uk>:

Sorry it looks like I was not clear enough It is the clino readings. 0 is horizontal, 90 up, 270 down, Therion appears to reject any clino readings that are not between -90 and 90. For completeness, the Total station also seems to allow 0 as down, 90 as horizontal, and 180 as up, but not 0 as level, -90 as down, and 90 as up (We had a person who used it for a job running it so reasonably sure it was not user error) Andrew On 17/04/13 18:27, Martin Sluka wrote:

Are you measuring clino from +90(up) - 0(horizontal) - +270(down)? or +90(up) - +180(horizontal) - +270(down) ? Apr 17, 2013 v 7:50 PM, Andrew Atkinson <andrew@wotcc.org.uk>:
