Hi, is it possible to use a smaller font size for the station-name? I know to use -scale xs for the station-name. It is not small enough and I want to change this global. So i tried using the "def fonts_setup" but nothing happens write "\def\thstationname{\size[4]}" to "mptexpre.tex"; Under debug mode -d i can find this saved in mptexpre.tex But no change in the output pdf Glück tief Christian -- +----------------------------------------------+ | FUND Freunde Unterwelt Dachstein e.V. | | http://www.fund-ev.de | +----------------------------------------------+
Hi Christian, see section 7.2.1 on http://marcocorvi.altervista.org/caving/tbe/m_07/m_072.htm there you find: The size of the fonts can be set with a simple MetaPost command, layout fontsize code metapost fontsetup( 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 ); endcode endlayout The five specified sizes are referred to as tiny, small, normal, large, and huge. The normal size is used for labels ("label" point and line). The small one for remarks ("remark" point). The |-scale| option overrides the default size. The actual font sizes used depends on the scale of the output map: * 1:100 and larger: 8,10,12,16,24 * from 1:200 to 1:100: 7,8,10,12,14 * from 1:500 to 1:200: 6,7,8,10,14 * smaller than 1:500: 5,6,7,8,10 Regards Wolfgang Am 09.04.2013 22:00, schrieb Jackson:

Hi Wolfgang,
The size of the fonts can be set with a simple MetaPost command,
layout fontsize code metapost fontsetup( 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 ); endcode endlayout
i use this feature already. But this will decrease (or increase) all labels. I only want to decrease the stationnames. Glück tief Christian
what scale do you use that the font is too big? Am 10.04.2013 02:12, schrieb Vasily Vl. Suhachev:

Workaround is use size M for stations only
e.g. fonts_setup(10,18,8,50,140);

mostly 1:500 Glück tief Jackson -- +----------------------------------------------+ | FUND Freunde Unterwelt Dachstein e.V. | | http://www.fund-ev.de | +----------------------------------------------+
Christian Presume you have seen this http://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/doku.php/metapost?s[]=font&s[]=station&s[]=nam e#label_and_text_examples The example in the wiki might well be out of date, so you should take the code from the source or mptexpre.tex I think. Copy this code to a layout of your own, then add write "\def\thstationname{\size[3]}" to "mptexpre.tex"; near the end of the block of code in the layout. Reference this layout directly or indirectly from your thconfig and the station names should come out at font size 3. At least this is my guess - I have not tried it. Or am I just repeating something you have already tried? Hi,
Copy this code to a layout of your own, then add write "\def\thstationname{\size[3]}" to "mptexpre.tex"; near the end of the block of code in the layout.
When i change "\def\thnormalsize{\size[8]}" to size[4] then the stationsname appear smaller. But there is no effect on changing only "thstationname". I copied this piece of code out of mptexpre.tex from a plain installation. thstationname there is definied as "thsmallsize". But only when i change the size in thnormalsize it affects on the output.. that confuses me :( thats my "test" layout definition: #----------------------------------------- layout metapost code metapost def fonts_setup (expr t,s,m,l,h) = write "\def\updown#1#2{\vbox{" & "\offinterlineskip" & "\setbox100=\hbox{#1}" & "\setbox101=\hbox{#2}" & "\ifnum\wd100>\wd101\hsize=\wd100\else\hsize=\wd101\fi" & "\centerline{\box100}\vskip4pt" & "\centerline{\box101}}}" & "\def\thlabel{\thnormalsize}" & "\def\thremark{\thsmallsize\si}" & "\def\thcomment{\thsmallsize}" & "\def\thentrance{\thsmallsize}" & "\def\thaltitude{\thsmallsize}" & "\def\thstationname{\thsmallsize}" & "\def\thdate{\thsmallsize}" & "\def\thheight{\thsmallsize}" & "\def\thheightpos{+\ignorespaces}" & "\def\thheightneg{-\ignorespaces}" & "\def\thframed{\thsmallsize}" & "\def\thwallaltitude{\thtinysize}" to "mptexpre.tex"; write "\def\thtinysize{\size[6]}" & "\def\thsmallsize{\size[7]}" & "\def\thnormalsize{\size[8]}" & "\def\thlargesize{\size[10]}" & "\def\thhugesize{\size[14]}" to "mptexpre.tex"; write "\def\thstationname{\size[2]}" to "mptexpre.tex"; write EOF to "mptexpre.tex"; enddef; initialize(Scale); endcode endlayout #--------------------------------------- Glück tief Christian -- +----------------------------------------------+ | FUND Freunde Unterwelt Dachstein e.V. | | http://www.fund-ev.de | +----------------------------------------------+
