kml color
by Philippe Vernant 25 Oct '25

25 Oct '25

Hi guys, I can’t find a way to change the light greyish color of the kml export except by going into the kml file and change it after it has been created. Is there a way to specify the color when creating the kml ? Thanks, Phil

Application error in xTherion
by Bill Gee 31 Jan '25

31 Jan '25

Therion version 6.3.1+dev running on Fedora 41. I came across something interesting today. I was working on a map when this application error occurred. I had to use the "kill" command at a command line to make xTherion close out. I restarted xTherion. Loaded the .th2 file I was working on. Added a user-defined point. Clicked the arrow icon, then the icon to insert a line. At that point this error appears. ============================ can't read "xth(me,cmds,83,31,x)": no such element in array can't read "xth(me,cmds,83,31,x)": no such element in array while executing "set ox $xth(me,cmds,$id,$pid,x)" (procedure "xth_me_cmds_update_line" line 12) invoked from within "xth_me_cmds_update_line $id $pid $xth(ctrl,me,line, type) $xth(ctrl,me,line, name) $xth(ctrl,me,line, opts) $xth(ctrl,me,line, reverse) $xth(ctrl,me,lin..." (procedure "xth_me_cmds_update" line 28) invoked from within "xth_me_cmds_update {}" (procedure "xth_me_cmds_select_linept" line 4) invoked from within "xth_me_cmds_select_linept $id $pid" (procedure "xth_me_cmds_select" line 63) invoked from within "xth_me_cmds_select $id" (procedure "xth_me_cmds_create_line" line 205) invoked from within "xth_me_cmds_create_line {} 1 "" "" """ invoked from within ".xth.tb.edif.lnrb invoke" ("uplevel" body line 1) invoked from within "uplevel #0 [list $w $cmd]" (procedure "tk::CheckRadioInvoke" line 3) invoked from within "tk::CheckRadioInvoke .xth.tb.edif.lnrb" (command bound to event) ======================= After this - no matter what I do - The same error appears. I cannot save or close the file, I cannot open a different file, I cannot compile from within xTherion. The only exit is "kill ..." from a command prompt. The map compiles without error from the command line, so I doubt there is anything wrong with the .th2 file. What did I do???? -- =============== Bill Gee

Two scraps in the same .TH2

Hi, A general question: can someone point me a reasonable situation where having 2 scraps in the same TH2 file makes sense/is important? Regards, Rodrigo

Drawing the map of a vertical cave
by Jean-Florent Raymond 29 Jan '25

29 Jan '25

Hello, I am drawing the map of a cave that is so far mostly vertical. In the map editor of xtherion is very hard to distinguish which lines / stations of the xvi belong to which part of the cave, because they are all drawn over each other when seen from above. When adding walls and objects it becomes even worse. Is there an easy way to deal with this? Maybe generating different xvi's for the different levels in the cave and drawing the scraps in different th2 files? Best, Jean-Florent.

Therion 6.3.3 problems compiling thconfigs on Windows
by Bruce Mutton 24 Jan '25

24 Jan '25

Good morning Just installed 6.3.3 on Windows 10, and noticed some odd behaviours, including an untrapped crash that does not happen with 6.3.1, briefly documented here. https://github.com/therion/therion/issues/629 Anyone else? Bruce

Thank you Bruce ! I always thought this option was used to set a black&white legend, not to hide lookup... Cross platform clean-up of system commands
by Tarquin Wilton-Jones 18 Jan '25

18 Jan '25

Hi, I am making a survey intended to be open source, which means it needs to compile everywhere, with minimal edits. I use PDFtk for post-processing the PDF output, to include something else in the PDF. This generates some temp files, that I don't want to leave in the output folder, in case someone uses them by mistake, so I want to delete them. Windows and Linux/Mac use different syntax, but "system" is a blunt tool, and does not seem to allow me to check which command to use: system "del tempfile.pdf" system "rm -f tempfile.pdf" That generates an error message, and Therion thinks the file has failed to compile when it is actually unimportant. Is it possible to code branch, like this: if( windows ) { system "del tempfile.pdf" } else { system "rm -f tempfile.pdf" } Is it possible to tell Therion not to consider the result of a "system" command when determining if compilation failed? Like using @system to ignore the output. Alternatively, does someone have a syntax of command that works on any of these three platforms? This almost works, but Linux chucks junk into a file called "nul" (even though it is not using that command): del tempfile.pdf 2>nul || rm -f tempfile.pdf 2>/dev/null And yes, I know I could demand installation of Python and clean up that way, but it seems like such overkill when all I want to do is delete a temp file. I would rather not add yet another dependency. Cheers, Tarquin

Scope of select and unselect
by Bill Gee 17 Jan '25

17 Jan '25

Hello everyone - I am starting a new cave map project and trying to apply some stuff I learned a few weeks ago. I am not getting what I want, and I think it is because I do not understand the scope of select and unselect in a thconfig file. Reading the Therion Book - page 50 - It appears that "select" is not processed sequentially. It has the same effect no matter where it appears in a thconfig file. Is that correct? And if that is correct, then what purpose is served by "unselect"? What I want is a variety of exported maps showing only the drawn parts of the cave. Then I want a map which shows all drawn parts AND all centerline. I defined several maps and surveys in the .th file to cover this. However, when I do the compile it acts like BOTH sets of defined maps are exported. My thconfig file looks like this: source main.th # repeated for all the layouts I want to use layout endlayout # produce the basic maps select MainMap export ... export ... # produce the debug map unselect MainMap select MainMap-Debug export ... Thanks! -- =============== Bill Gee

Hi, I installed therion 6.3.3 on MacOS Sequoia (v 15.2). When I compile a config file, it gives ERROR: Can not execute "therion -x cave1.thcfg". Is there a way to fix this? Thank you, Best, Francesco
