"\legendbox" "\loadpicture" and absolute paths
by rowena 14 Mar '21

Hello, I am using the "\loadpicture" capability in "\legendbox" constructs to include map sections, elevations, etc. It all works nicely on my PC where I am using relative paths to the pdf files. My club has a desire to archive the map data for posterity - ie if my pc dies or I go walkabout, the map data should still be available so that others can add to the maps as they are extended. I would prefer to have the images included using relative pathnames, rather than absolute pathnames, so that future explorers can download the map data and extend it, without having to duplicate my file hierarchy. How can I include relative paths in the \loadpicture functionality? Thanks, Rowena

Import a scrap into another scrap (or th2-file)
by torstein finnesand 11 Oct '17

Hi fellows, Sometimes I realize that two scraps should have been one (for instance scrap A in A.th2 should have been a part of scrap B in B.th2), in particular when it's difficult to join them. It's easy to insert the xvi file into the scrap B file. But I have to draw it again. Is there any workaround here? Torstein Finnesand Norway

Re: [Therion] Setting Scrap Colours
by Bruce Mutton 04 Apr '16

I use colour by scrap quite often as a drawing aid. Random is fine for that. Colour by map would be the more useful to be able to specify for 'finished presentations'. Colour by map has been discussed and requested from time to time. One of these is to colour scraps different colours. All I can find in the Therion Book is how to specify to colour map-fg by altitude or by scrap. If I do either of these then the colours are assigned automatically. I've searched my email history and seen that colour by altitude has been discussed before, but I can't work out if there is supposed to be a way to set the colour for a scrap? If this isn't currently possible, then if would be ideally implemented in the layout so that if is not coded into the drawings of the scraps themselves. Perhaps a syntax to let you specify as follows: colour <scrap name> <colour> Am I missing a way to do this in the existing release? Footleg

bad scrap overlay
by Naomi 01 Apr '16

01 Apr '16

Hi, I am new therion user - hello everybody :-) I have a "bad scrap overlay" problem in a cave passage. The setting is very simple: two galleries (one scrap for each), with a junction at the ceilling. The lox file shows everything ok However, my plan pdf map shows the bottom gallery at the top (should be the opposite !). The problem remains with and without joining the scraps. I can't figure why. Could anybody help ? Have you got an idea of the possible reasons for bad scrap overlay ? thanks in advance Naomi

Hi all, as I may say, Martin B. and Stacho are still alive, bus very busy. I spoke with Martin B. few minutes ago. Therion is not only on Stacho's computer, but on Martin B.'s too. So don't worry. They are testing Github repo too. Martin B. told me, that after they'll finish a project for their work they will prepare new release. So don't lose hope, please. :) m.s.

Recovering data marked as sent from DistoX2
by Andrew Atkinson 25 Mar '16

Hello Not strictly Therion, but.. Somewhere I think I have read about how to get data from a DistoX2 once it has been marked as sent it is still in the memory. (My pelicase broke on the way out of the cave and the pda was flooded, luckily the Distox2 survived) So I can see the data in the DistoX, so I can just type it in manually, but it would be better to get it off electronically, then all I have lost is the diagrams, which where not much, it is a grim bit of cave to survey. Anyway if anyone knows how to get the data to be resent, I would be most data, my web searching skills do not seem to be coming up with an answer thanks Andrew

Survex Terrain model problem
by Владимир Георгиев 25 Mar '16

25 Mar '16

Hi I was experimenting with the .3d model exported from Therion to Survex. The Survex viewer (Aven) has an option to display the terrain too. When I go to View > Terrain I get an error "No coordinate system specified in survey data". In the Therion data there is a coordinate system specified, fixed station as well as terrain data and it is displayed in Lox. Has anyone seen this error or had success in showing the terrain in Survex? Vladimir

If you are modifying the therion .3d export then it would also be nice to have the loop closure error and date explored (or date surveyed) exported with both model and map exports. Bruce Sent from my Samsung device, hence the typo's

Although if you save to the device and have a memory card installed, ptopo automatically backs up to the card (twice) so you have two physical chances that your data might be ok. (As compared to one if you save to card)But if you start a new file ptopo still uses the same backup names, so you have to manually copy the old file to the card. This method worked for us when our device drowned. Worth checking the memory card anyway (including with a file recover utility) because PocketTopo saves temporary backup files to any memory cards in the PDA during use. I think these get cleaned up when you save the project, but a recovery utility may find the files still there.
