After some 5 months(!) v 5.2.8 has made it to Debian testing
So at least Debian/ubuntu users have something vaguely current.
Now that that's happened I'll upload something newer, which I hope
will go through rather more quickly.

I uploaded a 5.2.8-1 therion package to Debian last night.
Feedback/bugs very welcome.
Known issues:
1) texturing on loch has been turned off in order to let it
run at all on Intel graphics cards.
2) The wiki snapshot is rather old (same as for 0.5.1 release) -
can someone furnish me a new one?
3) My therion svn is broken so it's not checked in yet.
