Other idea: use as map editor the Inkscape with plugin from Thomas Holder.
That does seem like it's very interesting. Sadly my brain is full. I downloaded Inkscape and stared at it blankly for a bit. I'm going to need someone to show me how to drive Inkscape or wait until I have the time and energy to learn something new. Bruce
