It looks there is a problem with missing plugin(s) to ImageMagick. It could be the same reason way with default system installation of ImageMagick it didn't work and after fresh brew installation which overwrites the old one it started work. Thanks, Stacho ! It's the "identify.exe". Replacing it with the 5.3.10 version solves the problem. (Had to replace "convert.exe" as well to prevent program from crashing). Project works fine now, and the size of the generated PDF is approx. the sum of all included images, which makes sense.
