Hmm, no problem in the Wayland session with KDE on Debian Testing (and no problem in the X session, either). Any other Wayland users here that could report crashes or good operation?
With a fresh install from the AUR (archlinux user repository) loch starts without problems on both X and wayland (sway).

loch 6.3.1 (why is loch --version not implemented?)
