Hi Bruce Yes, that is what I do. I'm more flexible with that so I can stick e.g. the northarrow to a white space on the map and the legendcontent to another white space. Torsten

So if I understand correctly in each of your thconfig files you have code tex-map that defines position and some parameters of …
\legendbox … \northarrow
\legendbox … \legendcontent % a standard header that is defined elsewhere
\legendbox … \thlegend
\legendbox … {some other headings hard coded text}
\legendbox … {some other function to hold a self justifying box full of hard coded text} % can we do this?
And then in a common or standard file elsewhere where you define…
code tex-map
\ legendcontent={…}
And therefore you could have a selection of files or layouts that could be referenced to the give the option of selecting different \legendcontent variants.
Is that how it works?

Hi Bruce
Concerning the text I'm doing it like this:
I have a extern file "text-file.th": layout textpart code tex-map ... text formatted with tex code parts... ... e.g. "\size[20]\si{This is text}\vss ... endcode endlayout
Inside the thconfig I use input to load this file and then add following to the layout definition: code tex-map .... \legendbox{x}{y}{z}{\textpart} ... endcode
It's not like inserting a plain text file and therefore it's not the easiest way but it works...
cheers, Torsten

Ah ha!
That looks easy. Thanks for sorting that out for me.
Now the only question I have is how to do something like;
input a-standard-tex-module.txt
inside of the code tex-map block?
I have come up with a long and more complicated (but more useful) custom the\legendcontent, and furthermore, it is always undergoing incremental improvement.
To replicate this in every independent map layout is not really a workable solution, but at the moment it is the only way I can think of.
