Yes, QGis is a good viewer (and mapcomposer also !!) for shapefiles. It's actually the 0.8preview2 which is available, and may be soon a stable 0.8. But it only works in 2D !! With GRASS, you can view the 3D (or pseudo-3D) datas through nviz... I can give some help if you need... The problem with my method is that the shape files produced by Canvas are all set to z=0... I have some ideas to solve this problem...
I am currently working on export of shapefiles directly from therion. OK - we are now focused on 2D, but I think exporting triangles only 3D model should not be very difficult to implement.
I am just missing some 3D viewer for shapefiles, that I could use for debugging. Do you know some? Is there some easy way how to show 3D shapefile in GRASS?
Thanks, S.
