The workaround I discovered is to specify it as "-value [3 ft]". This comes out right on the compiled map.
Good tip Bill. Interestingly, as a user of meters this sort of thing was the reason I gave up on Compass and On-Station, and look with suspicion at anything written by non SI users. Similar problem, but the other way around :) Bruce
