Thanks martin, that makes sense. I thought I had a recent snapshot, but not recent enough. I installed Therion 67248d35 and set it up for Luatex. It compiled a small test project, but fails to render the png background sketches and reports this warning. C:\Program Files\Therion\therion.exe: warning -- unable to read D:/CaveSurvey/th_Canaan/150Tomo/./ptopo/1- 50TomoPlanSketch-300-02of02-transparent.png -- Magick: NoDecodeDelegateForThisImageFormat `D:/CaveSurvey/th_Canaan/150Tomo/./ptopo/1-50TomoPlanSketch-300-02of02-transparent.png' @ error/constitute.c/ReadImage/739 Reverting my therion.ini and application back to Therion d6d9a18f all is well again. So for now I will pause my luatex adventure until the recent round of Therion edits settles down. Since the string “decode” turns up in my error and features in recent commits, I expect they are the culprit. Should I create an issue on github, or will this message be sufficient to prompt another look at decode? LuaTeX is now included in the windows installer. M. On Tue, Sep 1, 2026, 22:12 <bruce@tomo.co.nz <mailto:bruce@tomo.co.nz> > wrote: Thanks Martin I’ll need some more hand holding. I can find https://github.com/lualatex which gives many variations that I cannot make sense of, and https://gitlab.lisn.upsaclay.fr/texlive/luatex which looks like it has a definitive install, but it is not github. Is it one of these?
