Splay shots are NOT ever added to the survey length.  They are for passage
shape and internal features only.  I think if a splay happens to be higher
than the highest or lower than the lowest survey station, then they
contribute to the cave depth, otherwise they don't affect the cave
statistics.

Commenting splay shots creates additional work and defeats the purpose of
measuring them and entering them.  If you want to hide them, or show them,
that is controlled using layout statements or controls in the model viewers
(Aven, Loch).
