That's why Aven is slow and flickery - your OpenGL stack is rendering in
software.  Aven currently redraws more than it needs to as well, which
doesn't help - hopefully I'll fix that soon.

You probably need the nvidia drivers from non-free for good 3D
performance - the Debian wiki has details on how to install them:
