Hehe at me using a non-intel architecture. And I have some results for
you on Alpha LX164 architecture too :-)
I'll comment on that at the end of this email.
Looking on google it seems PPC is big endian and Alpha is LE.(but i have
seem some comments that Alpha can emulate any endianness)

That url above shows many of the warnings that I get in my build on PPC.

therion$ getopt --version
getopt (enhanced) 1.1.2

I did that and I get exactly the same error. The programs compile but I
still get the seg fault and the funny verion number when doing a therion -v

What suggestions now to debug this? I am keen to get this working on
both PPC and Alpha. I am installing a new Debian on Jills Athlon at home
and this weekend I will compile it on the Athlon - that should work.

Results for Alpha Architecture
------------------------------

Machine: Alpha LX164
Running Debian, stable

Compiled fine, some warnings but it did compile. I can post the
compilation results later if needed.
Xtherion works OK
If i run therion in the demo directory as just 'therion' in that
directory it fails with a metapost error. I have attached the logfile
that it created , it was called therion.log and I have renamed it to
therian_alpha.log

I checked my metapost and it does work for small pictures.
I saw that on the PPC there were the mp files in /tmp. They arent there
for the alpha as I presume that they are deleted as therion runs.
