how to input shots from the station to the cave wall?
Hi, what is the best way to enter measurement data from the current station to the cave wall? Basically this is thought to replace LRUD with real measurements. The form how the data is generated looks like: 1.0 1.1 12.32 234.5 -12.2 # from to tape compass clino 1.0 2.33 123.3 0.1 # from tape compass clino 1.0 3.44 345.5 76.5 # from tape compass clino ... The measurements in line 2 and 3 should not count for cave length too. Is there a way to use this measurements in generation of the 3d volume model? Any help is welcome. Wolfgang
Well, this is not yet possible (entering station without name), but it is in the TODO list. Currently only SPLAY flag to shots is supported. Especially when using devices like DistoX, then there are a lot of such measurements. I believe, it will be done soon. Currently, we see two kinds of such a "splay" shots - one pointing to the walls and the other pointing to the features (like blocks, huge stalactites etc...). So probably syntax will be like 1.0 - 2.33 123.3 0.1 # from tape compass clino for splay shots pointing to the wall and 1.0 . 2.33 123.3 0.1 # from tape compass clino for splay shots pointing to the features. But it needs to be implemented. Supporting such a measurements in a 3D volume model generation is completely different story - I have no idea right now how it could be implemented :( But when the step 1 will be done, I will start thinking of it. At least estimating LRUD from such shots when LRUD data are missing should be relatively easy. Regards, S. On Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 11:51 AM, Wolfgang Zillig <wolfgang.zillig@web.de> wrote:

Hi Stacho, you're right, it is meant for the DistoX. At least good to know that it is on your TODO-list. Greetings Wolfgang Stacho Mudrak schrieb:

long time on TODO list I may say ;) No any sign of DistoX we spoke first time about it. But you may import sketches from PocketTopo to Therion right now. Check the new version of therion -> CHANGES. Beat should send you version of PocketTopo which is able export file for Therion's import. m.s.

Yes, I've seen the export function on PocketTopo, but wasn't sure how to import it into therion. But I've tested it not with the latest beta. I hope to find some more time to test it this weekend. At the moment I only have a borrowed set from Beat, but I will definitely buy my own one soon. Best regards Wolfgang

Be careful not to make too much temporary shots. PocketTopo doesn't show which one is up or down and below or behind. So you are not able to recognize the points on floor from those on roof. m.s.
