Hi, translating projection, point, line and area types does not work; when compiling, it complains about this. However, types are important items to translate. I'm on a hurry, because the planned stage is coming, and I've heard about "using AutoCAD", which is for me a big no-no-no. I think I could change this, but I would need translate types as fast as possible. What could I do to get types translated and working? Thanks, Roman
What could I do to get types translated and working?
I am very sorry, but it will not work. The problem is simple - xtherion is editing text files, and therion accepts only english as input file language. This can not be changed - it was discussed a lot, but therion language is some kind of programming language. And translating programming languages is not possible. When we have been discussing it before - the only solution was to write new user interface for that. OK - types can be translated somehow, but what obout other options (put in options line)? And what about text editor - where you are editing input th files also in english? It is the same with survex, there also all commands are not translated. I am sorry for the late answer - I am a little bit busy risght now. When do you have your session? Even we can not translate input language, we can do some helpful things we have already in TODO. E.g. generating PDF with all symbols available in therion in all symbol sets with keywords and regional translations. This could help people a lot. Also I have almost finished using LRUD data in map editor. Regards, S. -=x=- Skontrolované antivírovým programom NOD32

OK, I understand. I was guessing that solution would not be trivial.

Of course you are right. I think all the matter would need somewhat as an "abstraction layer" so translated types, options, etc, would be passed to therion in english, or so. Again, I understand this is not trivial. At this moment, get the people learning about 50 english words is probably easier than getting a new interface.

Date is not fixed yet, however things are moving faster than expected. I'll need to do hard lobbying work from now. It would be very helpful if I could send even a not-so-fully-translated, windows binary version to some people as fast as possible. I updated the translation script in wiki so types remain untouched, but I have no idea about compiling those all tex, tcltk, tkimg, etc, things, in order to get it working on windows :(
Also I have almost finished using LRUD data in map editor.
Aaah... very good new; I think it is at least as important as translation. Will there be a grid in map editor to make drawing to scale easier? Is there an idea about release date? Could this next release be "translated"? I'm doing my first serious Therion survey now, and taking notes for a writing. (Wookey: your starter guide is useful, thanks) I'll post some (probably dumb) questions next week or so. I'm quite happy with therion. It is by far the best caving survey software I tried. Authors and contributors can be proud of it. Regards, Roman

I'll add several examples of modification of layout parameters to generate different kinds of maps to wiki today. MS. --

No problem. If you want to make your spanish installation - you will need to download following file: http://therion.speleo.sk/stats/get.php?filename=therion-batteries.zip Then you have to unzip it into same directory (e.g. C:\Cave), where your therion sources fow windows exists. So you will have there directories: therion therion-batteries In therion-batteries, you will need to modify common.iss and set SourceDir=C:\Cave OutputDir=C:\Cave Then you will need Inno Setup compiler (try google, no idea about download web page) to compile therion-full instalation script for windows. It will generate therion-full.exe in C:\Cave directory. Then you can rename it to therion-full-0.3.6-es.exe and put on some web page. If you are not able to compile therion under windows - and you have your xtherion in spanish, just do following: Unpack sources and install win32 therion. Copy therion.exe for program files to therion directory. Copy thbook.pdf to therion/thbook dir. Copy spanish version of xtherion.tcl into therion/xtherion dir. And that's all. After that, you can compile your own installation.

Yes, grid is already there. I hope, I can finish it this weekend. XTherion translation - I do not know - I didn't had time to look at it. I will try.

... and probably most complicated. A high-level interactive layer is still missing :( Regards, S. -=x=- Skontrolované antivírovým programom NOD32

I think I'm missing something. Is a setup.exe file what I am getting from Inno Setup. It installs two uninstall files. I don't need a windows C++ compiler?
If you are not able to compile therion under windows - and you have your xtherion in spanish, just do following:

So I need to compile after all? Regards, Roman

Simple cave - any simple software
Complicated cave - therion
Er... I don't agree. My survey is a 300 m gallery. Only one scrap. Walls, contours, pits, floor-steps and stations, gradient, paleo, arqueo, labels and plan was mostly done. I took not more time than made with Toporobot and Illustrator. So why not use therion for simple caves if you know how it works? Most caves here are as simple as this is and even smaller. So I think giving to people template files near finished could work fine at this time. For the map editor, instructions "how to insert gradient arrows"-like could be done. This way, I think most friends could survey 90% caves we have here. I will try it for my lobbying work. BTW, in such a gallery I was unable to get 2 areas, because the second one floods the first and all space between. limits were, first, gallery end and one contour line(cul-de-sac), second, gallery walls (cave walls are made in only one wall line) and 2 contour lines. After this, I created open border lines intersecting walls wildly, without success. I needed to draw a closed line to get areas -not a big problem Regards, Roman

Yes.

???
I don't need a windows C++ compiler?
No. Inno setup just creates setup.exe (therion-full.exe), where it add all files needed for distribution.
And that's all. After that, you can compile your own installation.
So I need to compile after all?
No ;) I mean "compile" all executable files (therion.exe, pdftex.exe ...) to one single therion-full.exe file, that can be used to install therion on computer with all the stuff needed for it (tcl, tex, mpost etc...) OK - if it is too complicated, I can try to add translation to xtherion first. S. -=x=- Skontrolované antivírovým programom NOD32
