Hello Just been working on some complicated surveys, and inevitably when surveying new passage in the cave you draw a cross section and then the new cave goes over it, or even over itself. It strikes me that in xtherion you can hide images, I think that it would be really useful if scraps could be hidden then you could draw one scrap then hide it and draw the scrap that is under it. Currently I import the image twice and draw it displaced, but that has the disadvantage that the scraps do not automatically join. It is very minor, but if easy to do would be a really useful feature thanks Andrew
Andrew, if you hide points section, you hide all cross sections. I use it for complex map. Cross sections are only in atlas. m. Jan 30, 2014 v 5:21 PM, Andrew Atkinson <andrew@wotcc.org.uk>:

I meant when you are trying to draw it up in xtherion, not the output, which I think that you mean, Cross sections are available in map, hmmm are we understanding each other? In this file, http://www.cave-registry.org.uk/svn/CheddarCatchment/Charterhouse/2009/StalP... because one passage was over the other, I have had to load copies of the image then drawn the scraps one on each one, if I could just hide a scrap I could have just drawn them on the same image, then the joins and everything would have been in the right place. Yes it would have been easier if I had started a new file for each part, but when exploring new cave sometimes you do not realise until it is too late. I have lots of examples of this, picked an old one as it is one of the clearest. Andrew On 30/01/14 17:43, Martin Sluka wrote:

I'm afraid I don't understand well. Is there any reason, way you don't insert two times the same image into map editor? Side by side. m. Jan 30, 2014 v 7:01 PM, Andrew Atkinson <andrew@wotcc.org.uk>:

That is the way that I do it, but thing like trying to see if labels overlap, and where cross section etc, would be easier if they are in the right place, but then drawing is difficult as there are the lines, but if you could turn a scrap visibility on and off, it would be good. If it is easy to impliment it might be worth doing, if it is not easy, as you say there are plenty of other ways to do it Andrew On 30/01/14 18:47, Martin Sluka wrote:

Just to add to first scrap in th2 file # in beginning. Maybe with a grep. ;) m. Jan 30, 2014 v 7:57 PM, Andrew Atkinson <andrew@wotcc.org.uk>:

I agree with Andrew, it would be very nice to draw junctions exactly at the place where they should be, especially for 3 or 4 levels that interconnect. However, rather than rendering a whole scrap invisible, I would rather like to be able to translate the whole scrap (ormore generaly several objects together) in a single step. That way, I could draw the connections exactly where they should be, and then move my scrap (and the underlying image) to draw the parts which have nothing to do with other levels but superimpose with them. However, moving a group of object could also allow me to correct part of a scrap when I correct a blunder a posteriori. My 2 cents Xavier Le 30/01/2014 19:57, Andrew Atkinson a écrit :

I'm afraid I don't understand where is the problem. I do it the same way. No problem with joins. Anyway you may generate PDF from first scrap and export it as png and use this png to draw second scrap. m. Jan 30, 2014 v 7:01 PM, Andrew Atkinson <andrew@wotcc.org.uk>:
