Hello, how is it possible to "say" Therion to make a PDF-File with for example a Size of DIN A4 (21 x 29,7 cm)? I have tried Page-setup 21 29.7 20 29 0.1 0.1 cm it doesn`t work I have tried Size 21 29.7 cm It doesn`t, too The command is ignored. Greetings Markus
Hi Markus Yes, but with limitations. If you export map -f pdf, then you can indirectly influence the page size by adjusting the scale and where you place the header. Not as precise as you are wanting. If you export atlas -f pdf, then you can precisely specify the page size, as you have been attempting. The cave is then distributed across as many pages as is required. Disadvantages are that you cannot place headers and other objects on the pages. Have a look https://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/bds where there is some information. "A map output (not to be confused with a map object) is contained on a single 'page' and the size of the page is automatically made big enough to fit the cave by the software. A number of formats are supported but pdf seems to be the most comprehensive. Pdf maps can include graphics such as photos, logos, other pdf files or previously created cave maps. An atlas output cuts the cave up to fit a user defined 'paper size' and adds a navigation pane. Hyperlinks in the navigation pane and at the page edges facilitate rapid navigation. If multiple maps are selected in the thconfig file, then chapters are automatically created separating the maps. These may be different caves or different levels in the cave - with hyperlinks to navigate between different levels. Only pdf format is supported. Inserted graphic images are NOT supported." Also https://therion.speleo.sk/wiki/templates#atlas_specific which contains some useful atlas paper size layouts. Dear Bruce, thank you very much for your detailed explanations. After your explanations I resume for me, I modify the size of the ready map in or with the program which I use for making my publication. That I have also done in the past. I have thought there could/must be a possibility directly in Therion. What a shame.. I have thought there could/must be a possibility directly in Therion.
The size of map is calculated from scale. So if you change the scale of map, the you’ll change the size of final output. A bit calculation. Martin S.
The get around I have used is to make a custom atlas layout Here I put my paper size, scale and critically the origin of the area I wish to extract. e.g. scale 1 1250 #NAV PANE #-------- nav-factor 30 nav-size 1 1 #PAGE LAYOUT Custom paper size #----------- page-setup 35 45 \ 34 43 \ 1.0 1.0 cm # paper width, height, page width height, margins left, top, overlap overlap 0 cm # default 1 cm size 32 36 cm # 8cm = 100m own-pages 1 title-pages off #exclude-pages on 1,5,6,11,15 cs OSGB:SO origin 17540 16300 200 m # change to top left of area origin-label 1 1 All I then need to do is save the required single page of the multipage pdf. It would be useful to know how to turn off the scale bar , nav grid and title. Try example at the top of pg 68 of the Therion Book. layout my_layout … code tex-atlas \def\dopage{\box\mapbox} \insertmaps endlayout and symbol-hide special scale-bar Might work, I have never tried it.
