Ariane's line - Underwater cave survey device
Hi! I just stumbled on what I think is a pretty new underwater cave surveying device. It's called "Ariane's line", you can find more details on this website: arianesline.com Maybe if someone with more knowledge and experience than myself is interested I guess it would be nice to get in touch with the developer to get Therion files out of his software. I don't own one and it will take quite a while before I'll be able to cave dive, so unfortunately I don't have any more information or data other than what can already be found on the website. I just thought it could be of interest at least to some of you! Cheers, Francesco

MNemo is the main piece of kit. Looks like it is a device you clip onto your dive line. As you swim, it counts how much line it has been pulled along. It records compass, length and clino/depth. Basically that's just a normal survey, either in regular data format or in diving format (your choice). Survex and Therion can both handle either of those data formats. You just need to set the right "data" command. You would need to convert from Excel to Survex/Therion format, or ask the devs to export it natively. Should be simple to do. The loop closure of 2% is because you have to unclip it from the line at a tie-off, then clip it back on again on the other side, so a small amount of length goes missing. Also if the line is not tight, the bearing or clino can be wrong. Same if it wraps around a curved wall/floor. Still, that's better than most diving surveys. Looks like a really cool device. Cheers, Tarquin
Hello, I have a Mnemo device. It produces Excel sheets like the one attached here that are pretty trivial to copy and paste into a Therion project... Regards Alvaro On 2021-09-17 19:05, Fra wrote:

I have a MNemo and have been using for some time know. Recently I wrote 2 small pieces of software in PHP: one to convert TML files to Survex (TML is the file format produced by Ariane, the caving software developed by Sebastien, the same guy that made the MNemo) and another to convert MNemoBridge's Excel files to Survex (a simplier data extraction tool also for the MNemo). I have already sent a copy of both to Sebastien so he can use them as base for native export support in Ariane and/or MNemoBridge. I decided to produce Survex files as this format is almost a native one for Therion. The most current versions of both are attached together with a small support file necessary for both. For the MNemoBridge/Excel to Survex conversion software to work, you also need to install PhpSpreadSheel (https://github.com/PHPOffice/PhpSpreadsheet) so PHP can read Excel files.
