Once I've dismissed the message, Xtherion seems to work fine, but it considerably delays opening the editor. Is there any way I can tell Xtherion not to do this?

Not yet. I will add new option to xtherion.ini file in next release. But you can disable it very easily. Just comment out line 3293 in xtherion.tcl script. Change xth_ivc to # xth_ivc and it should connect no more. S.
